Should I get a Macbook Pro or a PC?

I've done IM on a mac from the start. I used to run a Dual Boot setup to run my tools, but once I started using a VPS, that wasn't even necessary. All the softwares ran very smoothly with the Dual Boot setup, but the VPS allows you to let things run all the time without draining your resources.

Honestly, I run into no problems whatsoever. I much prefer the Mac operating system. Obviously, a windows computer is a better bargain, but if you have the money to spend, I say go for the mac.

That being said, I recently checked out the retina display mac compared to a regular, and I don't think it is worth the $500 difference.

Also, make sure to upgrade your RAM and CPU if you can.

Well, personally I would like to have some use for my money - it's not like it makes any difference if there's 1K or 100K in my bank account if I never use it.

I've been using a Macbook for couple years now, and I do love it. Sure SEO software-wise you're left out basically completely, but there's always the option to dual boot into Windows, or the better one of having a VPS. And let's face it: for serious use you're going to need VPS anyways.

But discussion about Mac's and PC's is like discussion with your average religious person: they just go lalalalalalala and say their decision is better because their decision is better.

I go for Apple products for the sheer fun I get when I see the rage of Windows/PC fanboys that is based on nothing.

I have been using my 13" macbook coming on 6 years now. Never had a problem with using for IM. There has been one time where I needed a PC, but I have Parrallels so no big deal.

I got a 13.3" Sony S Series (Tbh I think it sucks) as well as a MacBook Air 11". I carry both around since they both have really good battery life and are really light.

I've left PC a long time ago and total Mac addict anyway. I use boot camp for my Mac so run it as a PC anyway. My MacBook pro is new, but having major problems with overheating. I can't run it continuously for IM, because i think when it overheats, it crashes. Always freezing, can't even do overnight scrapebox or senuke!

Anyway, I think the only serious option is VPS. If you want to use computer for IM, unfortunately MacBook pro doesn't handle the continuous running of programs. Sorry to say, have to recommend PC (that was painful to say)

Some people get so mad when you say this, but in actuality it is simply the truth: If you want the most bang for your buck, go with a PC. For the price of a Mac you can get a much more powerful PC.

Edit: Keep in mind my argument is simply power for price, Macs are amazing too. Try them both out, I really love the way Macs feel, but if you're trying to get the absolute most out of your money I'd say go PC. If the bit of extra money isn't a big deal I'd say try them both out and see which one you like the feel of more. You should be able to test them out at a local Best Buy, Staples, or possibly Walmart.

This is the one topic my buddy and I debate endlessly. He insists you need a Mac if you want to be taken seriously in the world of graphic design and I insist I can do everything a Mac can do on my PC with about 1/2 the cost and pretentiousness.

In the end it'll come down to whatever your preference is. I've been working in Adobe Illustrator on PC for 10 years. I would be uncomfortable switching at this point.

I do want to quickly add that people who insist on using Macs due to "Stability" have no real bearing. I've never crashed or lost any work on my PC with Windows and/or Adobe.

I am doing a video editing project with a new Windows 7 PC (no Windows 8 for me this is no stinking tablet) but a comparable Mac was three times the cost. I will admit that I'll miss running Final Cut Pro but with the savings I think I'll get by!

Go for a Macbook Pro. I have mine now for about a half year now, and I love it and I will never switch back to Windows again. I use my Windows laptop only 1-2 hours per month now

Do not get a mac book pro. THe money you can spend can go to a better desktop and in addition to that you can get a pc laptop.
