Travel+laptop+work = geotargeting problem?

Hi guys!

I plan to go travel to japan this winter and i want to bring my laptop to work a litle bit
one money making method i use require that i post to blog/forum/ect located basicly in united states and canada
i usualy use the big G to find blogs or forums that fit my niches but i was wondering

since i will be in japan will i have a hard time finding websites located in usa/canada?

if yes how can i solve this issue?

(i have observed that nowadays geotracking and targeted result do realy takeover the "user experience"
its hard to have control on the content we want to see :-s )

I doubt you will have a problem. You might find that the big G pushes you over to the .jp domain, but you can always get around that by visiting

http://google.com/ncr

You can append /ncr to any google TLD and it will not push you over to your 'local' domain (For instance, I'm in the UK, so visiting the .com pushes me to the .co.uk. Adding /ncr at the end of the URL allows me to search on .com or .de or .fr or whatever).

If you have a problem visiting specific sites (like I know as a UK user MTV doesn't like me on their .com domain) then you can always proxy. Just be sure you can trust the proxy before you start logging into money accounts etc.

Buy a US/CA socks private proxy and set up FF to use it.
