Google EMD, Is This a Viable Option, Would Like expert Input?

Last week, seven of my sites which had been on page one of Google serps disappeared into the abyss, nowhere to be found.

These were exact match domains ( emds ) and they were fully optimized for the main keyword both on site and off site, after all that was the sniper method right, although I really didn't build that many back links, it just wasn't needed.

The content was totally unique and helpful, not spun or outsourced at all, no adsense.
The articles were written by me from my own personal experiences and knowledge.

Not surprisingly, my positions have been taken by large, well known authority sites with frankly extremely dubious content pages which are not optimized for the keywords, nor do they have that many back links to the page.

I am at the point where I really don't want to spend months diluting and disavowing back links and adding new content in the hope that Google will somehow forgive my past indiscretions.

I am just thankful that my offline business is not called "Top Tampa Pizza" or "New York Dance Academy".
All domains names are an exact match for a keyword, even "Google.com", "Bing.com" and "yahoo.com".

So, the question that I have is this:

If I take the content from each of these penalized domains and put each one in a separate category on a new domain, would that work?

My new domain name could be absolutely anything like:

BSname (dot) xx or even spewgoole (dot) xx

categories:
BSname (dot) xx/ cheerleading
BSname (dot) xx/ acne
BSname (dot) xx/ marriage
BSname (dot) xx/ xbox10
BSname (dot) xx/ bad debt
BSname (dot) xx/ guitar
BSname (dot) xx/ nascar

Each category having 3-4 quality posts and good onsite seo.

These after all could be my genuine interests!!

Seriously.....would this work better?

Please let me know your expert thoughts.

Yes that would probably work, provided that you delete the old websites and their content. If you don't, Google won't rank it and they'll see it as duplicate content.

Also, whatever you do, don't try to 301 the previous rankings to the new domain... that will just pass on the penalty.

I think that I will just go ahead and test this out, I might end up with one larger site that ranks better.
Or maybe it wont but there is nothing to lose at this point as I don't want to waste my time getting them to rank again only to have
Google slap them 6 weeks further on.
Worth trying anyway

Update So far I have taken the content from 6 of my sites which were affected by the updates and put each one into its own new category on another site.
The site in question was 3 years old and didn't have any issues except making no money.
I set up a category page for each category with a good but generic article. Each post was copied into the site as a post and then converted into a page using the p2converter plugin which works pretty good. All of the content was original, written by me, not spun or copied.

I kept all titles and urls (slugs) the same. I deleted all content from the donor sites and removed the WP installations. I removed all ads, affiliate links and adsense. I renamed images and alt tags that were too keyword focused. So now I have one site with 6 categories, 42 static pages and dynamic home page.
It probably took me about 2 hours to complete but most of that was figuring out the site structure and menus. My next job will be to dilute the keywords and make adjustments to the content pages and KW density etc.

Today I am editing my Youtube videos which were previously published to point to the new domain category pages and adjusting the Twitter and Facebook pages.
Later I will do a small amount of bookmarking to the pages and the videos, no mass programs just a few accounts to look natural.
Its actually less trouble than before now everything is in one place.

I'm also really interested in the results of this, because I'm in similar situation as you.
But just one thing, if the problem was just in low quality/quantity of articles and not in backlinks, I don't think 301 would do any harm.

The sites affected were all emds which were ranking well without much backlinking except for bookmarks and the
occasional forum comment. The content was unique and fairly good which is why I am keeping it.
I am not sure about the 301 redirect situation so I chose not to do it this time.
I am looking for a fresh start and I don't want to have anything from the past interfering with this test.
Started to get a few visits today so that's progress.

If the content of all of your articles is fairly similar, you could go for authority site. I'm doing that now as days of MNS are obviously coming to the end.
Its going to need some investment, but I think it will pay off.

Ok I got jokes tonight. In seriousness though what is the purpose of p2converter (searched it and see updated version is ptypeconverter) when posting from scratch, is it mainly to have category menu for pages?

Also are most of your pages around 500 words? If so you should try to get the ones that could use more content up to 800-1200 word range. Whatever they need. Some won't need to be more but between 42 pages, I'm sure you can add to some. I used to add to web 2.0's when they ranked just because most other "marketers" didn't and it worked well. Since it's stuff you're really interested in and it was written months or years ago I'm sure you could add to some of these that need it.

LOL, yes I see what you mean about the categories.

I was just trying to make a non niche authority site about my interests and then expand on it from there so eventually the "cheerleading" would be in the sports category and "bad Debt" in finance so that I can just keep expanding out on any subject. kind of like about dot com but with out their Adsense revenue unfortunately

I agree about the word count and I have been working on that slowly and now I actually know more about the subject and its easier to write.

The p2converter plugin which is now updated to ptypeconverter takes posts and converts them to pages or vice versa. I had all posts on my blogs and I wanted to convert them to pages without changing the all of the titles, tags, meta descriptions and keywords etc. So just imported the .xml files to the new site and then converted them to pages. It works really well.

Funnily enough, all these people are reporting their EMDs being smashed by Google - but I operate and manage a lot of international EMDs that weren't hit, except for a UK website related to horse racing... but even then, it's still on the second page from the first page.

interestingly, I just made my EMD (.co.uk) with one page site sitting on 1st page in google uk within 2 weeks of launch.. thinking of adding more content to help push rank up as it is lying at the bottom of 1st page. any suggestions?
