Looking for advice on going back to school

Scheduled to lose my job 12/01/2012 and a decision is being made at the moment
if the job loss will be covered under the TAA (Trade Adjustment Assistance). It's looking
fairly certain that it will and I will be heading back to school to further my education.

My interests are:
Mobile Web Developer $2100
Web Applications Developer $2100

Multimedia Arts Certificate $5995
Web Design Certificate $5995

These are online programs that I am interested in mainly because I have been interested in IM
for several years now. But I'm not sure how likely I am to find a job in these fields in my area.

Any suggestions, input, advice here on my situation?

I would appreciate and value you guys help if possible.

I cant speak about the specific programs that you mentioned, but most programs like these are going to rip you off, they will just give you a useless diploma at the end, and you won't be any more likely to find a job with this diploma.

Web Applications Developer could be promising. However don't bank on getting a job. Use your new knowledge to further your income from doing bits on the side and possibly help you in terms of self-employment.

That's been my outlook too but I need to take advantage of this opportunity since the TAA will be covering most of the cost.

The diploma wont do much for you but if you have no knowledge of web design/coding it can be a good start. if you have the determination and work ethic you can learn it all online though. code academy is where I learnt for free.

Zip... only high school education. been at this job as a maintenance technician for 28 years. Trained by the company. Now got to make a career change.

This was what I was thinking also. I'd like to have this skill set. Be nice to find a job using those skills but if not then possiblt look at being self-employed.
