watermark product photos - bad for conversions?

Guys i have handmade jewelry ecommerce site and found some competitor 'using' my photos for his website.
I thinking about watermark all photos on my site. Can it have bad effect for conversions?

I checked lots of top ecommerce stores in different niches, and 90% don't use watermarks... Seems there is reason for this

You can do this, see 90% of them are not using.
If you'll use this, its called unique but be sure do you own that images which you're going to water mark?
Are you using stock images or your own images?

I am using my own photos, that's why i want to 'protect them'
