has anyone else seen this before?

Looks like one is a local business listing and one is a normal site listing. Maybe they are counted as different listings by Google.

Honestly man I just took a guess based on what I saw. I have never done local SEO so I know nothing about how business listings work.

Maybe business listings show a meta description when only one business is being shows?

Maybe it is not a meta description? Maybe you can enter a business description in your Google business page?

One direct, one referral.
