Google misses earning expectations! Rejoice!

I dont understand why everyone is getting happy google is failing. Who would you rather take over?...BING?!?.....yeah, like Microsoft is less evil. I have had my fair share of sites lost to penguin/panda/EMD update but i still dont hate them. If you guys remember back in 2003ish google had doorway pages and malware on top of most results....do you want to go back to those days?

Instead of hating google, try to figure out why some people are still killing it with google and why YOU didnt do well. It taught me to make Authority sites that actually give value instead of glorified doorway pages called "Amazon Blogs"

@MaxTucker I really liked your categories of IMers. I think a problem that a lot of people on bhw have is they don't fully accept the nature of black hat seo.

Once you start building spammy links a timer is started for your site. Eventually, the search engines will figure out whatever you are doing. As a result, you must constantly be building these sites, testing new strategies and keeping detailed data on what you've done and the result it had. Its a fine plan of attack but I think people forget the part of the equation where their sites get nuked.

There are plenty of ways to make money online. But you have to always keep an eye on the big picture of your strategy. Churn and burn sites can be a successful plan but you can't get lazy and forget the churn part of the equation...otherwise you only have burn.

So, I love Google because I explain to a newbie the dynamics of the SEO community? Your logic amazes me.

You don't like Google because they have a monopoly on search? If you had the chance to have a monopoly on anything you would jump on it. Saying you do not like Google because they have a monopoly is akin to saying you don't like Google because they are successful.

Furthermore, you do not know what earnings expectations are. If you did, you would know how insignificant earnings expectations are in gauging a companies success. Perhaps, you should go read up on the economy and on how public companies operate. Maybe then you can stop clogging up the forum with these rubbish threads. Even for Google haters this should not be news. The numbers have no significance at all.

Do you work for google or something?

White hat seo = black hat seo

or

white hat seo = no seo ?

So if you are successful, then you have a monopoly? You don't have to have a monopoly to be successful.

Shit, I thought value was a 40 year old service company that has backlinks from the better business bureau, angies list and multiple fortune 500 companies. I guess that tumblr blog with shit links that now ranks in its old position (#1) offers more value.

In my opinion, Google saw the EPS missing quite a while ago and rolled out a shitload of updates to suck up more revenue through clicks inside Google Search. I don't give a flying fuck how valuable a site may be. It won't get squat for traffic when all of Google's verticals/paid ads push it right down the toilet. And don't think your niche is protected. There's nothing like waking up in the morning with a stable ranking for months (#1) and seeing your still #1 ranked site halfway down the page because of Google's paid ads/verticals. The next step is to look at your traffic stats. When you see your daily traffic is 10% of what it was for months, you realize even the best SEO can't compete against Google's greed.

Do you work for google or something?

BOOM!

There it is, the default online fallback argument to be used against somebody injecting logic into a Google hate thread.

You cannot fault my logic so you say something stupid instead.

You are a cliche if ever I have seen one.

Oh but wait there is more. Now for the part where you take something I say completely out of context in order to further your flawed argument.....

So if you are successful, then you have a monopoly? You don't have to have a monopoly to be successful.

Nice....

Let me explain it in simple terms for you.

You target the keyword "weight loss" and because of your super SEO skills you take the top five search rankings in Google, Yahoo and Bing for the keyword. It can now be said that you have a monopoly on the keyword "weight loss". At this point would you give up 50% of your business because you feel it is unfair to have a monopoly? No Blackhatter worth his salt would.

Don't make me laugh, you are jealous of Googles success and you are having a hissy fit because they slapped you one too many times. You are the very epitome of a category one newbie (see above).

At this point I will say that I am done with this thread. There is no logical debate to be had here. Enjoy crying about Google while I use it to make a load of money this month.

Well they are trying to fix it, is my main point. I agree with you on the paid ads thing. Google Adwords was cool when it first started and it was ONLY on the right side. As soon as they started putting as the #1,#2 and #3 and now Google Shopping and Google Images. My #1 site gets very low traffic (compared to the impressions/total searches). Speaking with my clients, I realized most of them think the top 3 adwords results are the top 3 natural results. One of them even "thanked me for getting them to #1"....I just tripled their Adwords bid.

My rant was not directed towards you BlackHat3. :) I'm just saying that current trends indicate organic search is on the way out. Organic listings will one day be fillers for queries in which Google can't serve paid ads. Right, wrong or otherwise, this is where all of this is leading. And the irrelevant listings that get displayed, such as Wikipedia listings on buyer queries, make those paid ads look much more appealing to searchers.

I did get slapped by the first penguin and you know what, I linked my way out of it, so I am not a pussy black hat seo...

In fact, my site is an authority site with over 5,000 indexed pages now all written at a graduate level...no spun shit...

Further, 90% of my revenue is through selling apps in iTunes now b/c its way more stable and the fact that mobile is the best way to make money now.

Your just really fired up about this and I really don't understand why...

Danny Sullivan?

Why would you be glad to see this? This is a company we rely on for earnings. Furthermore, if they are down by profits by so much there is a higher likelihood they will screw people on SEO to make them give up and do PPC

And so the downfall begins! Considering throwing my next weekend party in honor of Google's demise!

Some people get it in this thread, and many do not. To those who say rejoice in Google's demise, there is no demise. There is only affected revenue earnings. I get it that there are many script kiddies and backlink masters on this board, but very few economists. Do yourself a favor and read into what this actually means for Google and then project on how both the searching public and the webmaster have to contend with Google's response to this 22B dollar loss. Clearly Google isn't driving any new business model ventures. Google Wallet, Google+ are pretty much not the revenue generators Google hoped they would be. I suspect that we'll see a quick response in layout changes soon to further drive revenue via cpc. That is NOT the answer anyone on this board wants to see.

It might be a little too early to say this is google's demise, but I understand your sentiments...

This thread has taken on a life of its own. This is great!
