Google misses earning expectations! Rejoice!

The best news I have seen in a long time! :D Hopefully Bing/Yahoo will pick up marketshare in the months ahead.

It's breaking news on CNBC as well:

http://www.cnbc.com/id/49464848

Google stock down 9% now. Trading in Google stock halted. lol

Look at the revenue figures:

Revenue increased to $11.33 billion from $7.51 billion a year ago.

Does anyone think Google reduced earnings so that they can cry to the FTC that they are losing money?

Doesnt matter if they are down by 8 or 80% because they still made $11.33 billions.

I agree with you, but remember, if you are still doing google searches, never click on an ad!

If you see an ad you really want to click on, view the url at the bottom of the ad and go directly to the site...

I have not clicked on a google ad since Feb 17th, 2012 and will never click on an ad again. Fuck Google!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

haha....I've never clicked an ad on Google. Not even when I had no clue about IM and the fact that advertisers pay money to Google for displaying their ads. :o

Just saw the news breaking on the BBC and had to head over here for the reaction.....

This is big news 8% slide for a company with the earning potential of google is bordering on catastrophic as it will affect market confidence that that can turn it around. Once a Goliath starts to fall it can be a hell of a job trying to right it again.

Gonna be fun now dissecting the business reports now as to why this has occurred on bloomberg and the others. With any luck poor user experience in the SERP returns will hit the mainstream news and accelerate the process as peeps move to bing/others.....

Fantastic!

Why is everyone so happy? I'm a little new to this BTW... Is it because the other search engines aren't as advanced?

We are happy b/c we hate google!

Even if you never clicked an ad they still made money from you via aff links on search results and just user data. Best to use bing and to click as much ads as you can on there :P

Maybe, maybe not, but I know I am costing them electricity to power those searches so I don't have a problem with people continuing to use google b/c they do have to power those data centers...

The failure to meet earnings projections is heavily related to the influx of mobile users. Clicks on mobile devices pay much less than traditional devices, so keep using your phones until they figure out a way to offset this issue.

Lot of peoples life here revolve around google. So i would advice you to keep the hate to a low level

LOL do you guys really think this has an effect on you? They made a boatload of money and they will continue to do what they do. Do you think this will change anything about how Google feels about black hat and their search engine? Come on now. You're in the business of messing with Google's algorithm and most of you need Google.

CNBC is reporting..

the company said its average cost-per-click declined 15 percent compared to the third quarter a year ago.

Are the wheels coming off it's primary business model?

That must be a wake up call. I'm sure Google isn't feeling as invincible as they were.

Thank you Matt Cutts and Google for screwing over the little guys, because they can do it to you.

Reap what you sew.

Actually we need the EU and FTC to do their jobs and split Google up into tiny pieces so that competitiveness is restored to search. Not that it will happen, but internet marketers and all businesses outside of Google would benefit from the Google monopoly being removed from the face of the Earth.

No, I don't think google's bad earnings have an effect on me. And no, I don't really necessarily believe this will change anything about how google feels for black hat (white hat) seo.

There share price is dropping b/c google does not monetize as well on mobile right now as the desktop. Will they eventually figure it out and make more money than any other company? Probably...

The next frontier on the web is "Big Data" and Google is uniquely positioned to be most likely the only company that will conquer "Big Data".
