Google Disavow Tool Officially Released

o.0 Google at it again 0.o
so... i can remove all of these crappy backlinks? i wonder if it stops effecting certain pr<5-9>...

But when some idiot, who cannot beat you on a level playing field, spams you with 10k spammy blog comments that takes away that playing field.

No, it doesn't. That IS the playing field, it's a free-for-all.

It is similar to me as someone coming by my brick and mortar biz and setting fire to it in order to corner the market.

That's illegal and, even in a truly free market, he'd go to jail for it.

The game of SEO is a free-for-all where no one goes to jail. Bitch and moan about it being unfair, or do something that actually benefits you.

I dont consider attacking my property (site) free market at all.

No one is attacking your property. Just its position in Google. :)

Ok, then by that logic my sending a list to Google of spammy sites simply contributes to the free for all.... Free market right? After all the worst that can happen is that I effect other webmasters who are actually ranking well by virtue of these properties.

Exactly. The problem with the amount of freedom to use this tool (assuming this tool does what it says it does) is this: if the sites you sent were doing good for others but doing bad for you, then it means you have reversed the effects for them.

So basically, if one guy has an updated list of ALL the sites used for building links by many SEO providers (like the usual bookmarking sites, article directories etc), the submission of the .txt file could easily kill thousands of sites. And this will likely happen so go figure what would be the end result.

If you don't, somebody else will. Be first or get left behind. Your call.

Yep and it is something I do not WANT to do but because some spammer attacked us I HAVE to do it.

Already done, submitted my list of a couple hundo domains a few moments ago.

I know nobody gives to craps about my situation but I will say this, due to our ranking we have created a real business with employees that depend on us, I even had a hand in helping get a guy from right here on BHW full time employment with a 5 figure salary, I spend several hundred more a week on articles, right here with BHW members. I have contributed to BHW, I have NOTHING against bhw or tactics from bhw, but the attack on our site hurt us even though I went the WH route of social media, guest posts on good blogs and creating good content that people want to link to.

Last thing I want to do is expose or hurt anyone else, that is why I am against neg seo but this left me no choice and undoubtedly this is going to hurt some guys trying to do BH the "right way" (if there is such a thing)

An evil thought just crossed my mind. Test with you competitors website. See what happenes to their website after pressing the button

Cool now i can remove all the bullshit links from networks etc i paid a heap of "seo experts" who provided "quality" content that reads like it was written by a mentally challenged chimpanzee.. not even related to the right niche... all sitting right next to my domains, total rubbish and I've lost big time.

I'll be happy to test it out.

You can't do that unless you have access to their GWT.

Hmm...so what will happen now to SEO?

It will get infected, develop rabies and slowly turn into a zombie. Once there, it will get a crazy urge for brains, at which point it will grow legs and start running around on the streets, eating marketerss brains and turning them into zombies too.

Don't worry though, you should be safe.

Now I'm not going to sift through and try to get thousands of links deleted. I just don't have the time for that and I'm not going to pay for it either. I know that getting them removed can get the penalty removed because I've talked to people who have done it.

So for me I am going to go through what webmaster tools shows as domains linking to my site and try to find the bad ones and submit it to Google in hopes that I can get some of those penalties lifted from the sites.

Why would I not? They've been penalized for several months and Google has already told me numerous times after several reconsiderations that I haven't shown enough progress in getting the bad links removed. If it saves me time and allows me to recoup the sites than it's a win for me.

It's not going to help you. It's not there to help you. All you're going to do is divulge the details of your activities, which Google will use to fight "webspam" and when nothing changes on your end you will be annoyed at how 'useless' this tool is.

Who knows if it's going to help or not, no one can make assumptions until it has been tested... of course google will keep data but doesn't mean it won't also get some penalties removed and regain some positions.

1 of the reasons discussed about why/how the tool will help had to do with negative seo and protection from it, if this is the case then your not divulging details about your activities it could be someone else on the attack. I know a heap of links i will remove as they are in shithouse neighborhoods.

The problem is that if someone gets scared and starts submitting blog network links to the disavow tool then it alerts google to the network.

Doesn't even need to be scared. Just needs to be stupid/lazy enough to not clean out the blog network links from the file they submit.
