Are backlinks on youtube effective?

I do all the basic SEO stuff on my channel, i have several accounts and like, comment, and favorite all my stuff with them, i also have about 2,300 active subscribers

however id like to know if backlinking is possible and if it is effective for getting viral vids?

I tried jacking tags and keywords from the youtube video i want mine to be related to, stole most of the elements from the title and description, and am even related to the video in video response, however I still wont show up in related vids of that video (it has around 5 mil views)

the most logical reason the two are not related yet is the video i want to go viral only has 2k views, but is it just a matter of time before the two vids become related once my vid gets more views or is there another way to surefire get the two videos related?

eventually i am going to start a contest on that vid telling everyone to like and favroite and comment for a chance to win a free t shirt, but how else can i get it related to the viral vid and/or get more views?

please any insight is valued thanks in advance

Are you buying your views from a good source?

Having likes, favorite, views is not a guarantee to be on the top 10 on YouTube for your keywords, you also have to consider the age of the other videos on the top list.

To beat an aged video, it will greatly help if you derive some traffic directly from the search engine, this will help keep your views, comment, likes, favorite consistent.

I think nope. I've done many experiment video + backlinks. The result = fail.

You need views(audience retention and stuff), likes, and comments.

Lol why are some people assuming I bought my views, likes, subs, or anything.....I never said anything about that, I just asked about youtube backlinking and if it was possible

All my subs are real people that actually wanted to sub....

Anyways, the most straight forward answer I got was, aged videos have priority, and that search engine searches from google help boost your traffic ratings....

Could have figured both, but its still good info!

Hey mate to what i know and experience for some time now yes youtube is really good and powerful for backlinks i help a TAX company on just about doing videos and using youtube vidz for backlinks and got the site on 1st page in about 3weeks for a very competitive keywords..Hope that helps!!

To me it seems that for trending topic actually newer videos get a boost over old and estabilished ones, at least for a while.

Perfect example is look at your competition and balance it out - upload the video and boost it. You don't have to beat your competition by the amount of views either because the new video will be detected as going "viral" and Youtube will rank your video above competitor's... guaranteed.
