Building backlinks directly to money site

Lets say you have a 5+ year old money page with 1000+ domains linking in (natural).

Why not throw in a few black hat links?

I'm talking about ~10% diversified (wiki, bookmark, forum, comments etc.), content related backlinks on non-spamy sites.

That shouldn't destroy your natural linking profile, right?

I am in the same position as you. I have a 5+ year old money site with thousands of natural links.

In my case I spammed backlinks over a year ago before Panda. I found that spammed links provided no discernible SEO boost.

However, I have recently started building hiqh quality link pyramids which have already given me a huge boost. I only ever spam the second tier with links but my money site and tier one remain clean.

Apart from the fact that spam links did not improve my ranking, these days they are more likely than ever to hurt your rankings. I would not risk it.

Generally it's comment spam and auto spun articles

I'm moving away from spamming up tier 2 links, it's only a matter of time before the big G goes after them too (if they haven't already)

If you work dilligently, there is next to no way for someone to trace tier 2 and beyond back to you or your moneysite.

How can Google determine, whether the comments and posts are spam, if you don't overdo it? 100.000 comments? Ok. But 20 well spun comments, wiki, forum, article, bookmarks etc.?
