Tight budget laptop

Yo bhw, it's been a really long time since I've posted here. I've been very busy with university life and all that, and so I decided to pause my internet life for a while until I get back on track, you know what I mean.

However, I still go online every now and then to check on the new SEO updates and etc.

Enough with my stupid drama, I need you guys to help me out on this. My laptop is getting really old and slow, and I'm in need of a new one. After all the research I did, I want to get an ASUS laptop. I'll need it for university tasks, some heavy gaming probably, graphic design and probably video editing.

Which laptop would you prefer for my requirements?
I'm on a tight budget, $900 maximum. I can go for $1000 if it's worth it.

Did a small research on that laptop, pretty sweet indeed. I'll definitely have that on my list.
Battery life of 4 hours isn't what I really want, but that's cool. It's pretty cheap too for the specs, found one on Amazon for $669.

However, I'd like to know which laptop is best and worth the money from the link I posted at OP.

I concur with the previous dude that said that you are not on a tight budget if you are willing to spend $900.

Go with a quality brand and not a Walmart lappy. I suggest a Thinkpad T420 or T530. Take this for example http://www.ebay.com/itm/Lenovo-Thin...93578710?pt=Laptops_Nov05&hash=item2a240ed6d6 . I would add 4GB more ram and a notebook cooler. On that setup you could edit video 24/7 for years without any hardware malfunctions.

This is what I need. I desperately need 8Gig Ram and to upgrade from i3 but the high specs I want just arent too available for laptops yet. I'll never want a desktop as I'm on the move so much and I need to be creative wherever I go so now I have a lead.

Look into the ASUS series. Mine has 8 GB, i5 2630 and a GT550M 2GB (not the best graphic card.. but it does the deal)

Thank you! For me graphics isnt a worry either as Im about sound producton. Even then one can never rely on any laptop to have the speakers you need so I plug in headphones.

My laptop is a special bang olufsen edition tho. The speakers are really decent

What ASUS series do you own? Looking at the specs, it sounds pretty decent.

It's definitely the kind of lappy that is pitched to the masses through the outlets where the masses shop. Not fully as crappy as Acer or Packard Bell though, but def. not top quality, not the top components, not the top design, no distinguishing features at all. The KIA of laptops.

Everything you require is going to kill most laptops. With you're budget a custom built PC is the way to go. You will get something thats much better in ever sense of the word than a laptop or any pre-built piece of sh*t from a computer store. No building a PC is not hard, i did it for the first time last year. Took me a few hours and was a great thing to do. If you ever get stuck then Google or YouTube are there to help you out.

I can understand you may need a laptop for classes so carrying around a base computer may be a little difficult If its just going to sit in you're room then Desktop is the better choice.

However, I still haven't found an answer to my question.

Go for Dell alienware if you want a gaming laptop.

With $1000 you can get a pretty sweet specs.
