in searching for "gangnam style" 1 of the most popular most viewed videos on youtube how did a spammer video selling ringtones get top billing?

https://www.youtube.com/results?sea...4.0.166.373.1j2.3.0...0.0...1ac.1.jBVwb92nKO0

you will see that the real gangnam style at half a billion views is listed second to the ringtone video uploaded 2 weeks ago

any ideas on how the ringer video guy was able to do this?

It could just be trending really hard, without no SEO involved..Maria Sharapova is at the start of the video..that will get a few likes I suppose..YouTube is all about what is trending..

How would you suggest on the trending part? Tons of likes? Tons of shares?

Noticed that too, after taking a look at the channel, I came to the conclusion that it was pure luck. If you take a look at the other videos he subsequently uploaded to capitalize on that lucky strike, they have nowhere near the same amount of views, just getting organic views from the GG Style copycat video.

That means he doesn't have a magic trick or secret formula to make videos viral out of nowhere.

Or he uploaded with latest trend and tags were good so he gets views.....

but does this video beat the original Gangnam Style video in terms of that "trending" factor? I guess not because it's being viewed by thousands of people everyday. I think it's Google's fault.

I noticed this as well and it confuses the hell out of me! He's had the #1 placement for "Gangnam Style" (the most searched term on YouTube as of late) since September 29th, 2012. When I first noticed it, I thought "OK, it just a fluke, he got lucky, YouTube is shuffling things around right now" but now 2 weeks later he's still in #1 spot and is averaging 2.1 million views per day. On top of all this he's doing it all with a copyrighted video (the same video that is currently in the #3 spot). So I'm also wondering, how the heck does YouTube not take down this infringing video, so weird.

I'd love to hear Skittles and others chime in with any ideas on how this amazing placement was accomplished as well as maintained for so long.

Maybe it doesnt get taken down because it gets a lot of traffic

It's all luck which is helping him get more views and cash in :)

my main question
wht the f is in that video of gangnam style to be so popular nyway?
449,015,599
3,951,971 likes, 189,255 dislikes

Da hell? The ringtone video is ranked above the official video for me.

The viral videos are always stupid. Most YT/FB users love dumb videos.

Divide 30 mil by 16 days and that's 1.9 mil views a day.

Not surprising it's at the top!

????

the original gangnam style video is getting way more hits per day though

Maybe because the song is cool and having the ringtone is even cooler? :D

for 1.9 million views, how much do you think he is making?
