Bing and Yahoo - nothing

I was ranking with a 2 year old site and I was working very slowly with banklinks I mean 80-100 a week nothing out of hand and now my two keywords are gone. I was very careful when I was creating my anchor text I spun them {kw1|Kw2|click here|read more here} that way I was not targeting my KWs that hard.

Well, I will be starting my campaign in a few days so I hope that will help bring everything back up.

I checked states today
Google
PR 0
KW1 - Gone
KW2 - Gone

Bing and Yahoo
KW1 - 67 for B and Y is 68
KW2 - 33 for B and Y is 34

But I am ranking on Yahoo and Bing today. LOL WTF I also notice no one in my niche has taken a hit at all and they all have thousands of backlink compared to me. One guy has 500K and a few others as well so what gives, is anyone else seeing this as well?

There was a panda update as well as the EMD update, seems like what happened was that the top level authority sites, and horrible spam sites are doing better since, and everyone in the middle is floundering right now. Give it a few days before you make any massive adjustments, let the SERPs settle back out after the update shook it up, and see where you are in a week or so--if you start making changes now, and you come back to where you were before, you won;t know what it was that brought the site back, your adjustments, or the updates settling down.

I'd need to know a lot more about your site, it's content, its size, the social aspects and noise surrounding it, hsitorical traffic levels, the commerciality of the keywords you are targeting, the sources of your links and the content you put your links with, your competition, your sites monetization methods and your niche to be able to answer your question properly and provide a decent answer.

If you like, PM me with that detail and I will take a look for you.

OR WAIT - because..

Someone here will give you some half assed, "home brew", shit-stick answer based on knowing none of the above.
They might even give you some hokum advice based on knowing the "sweet feck all" info you've provided.

If that's what your looking for, I'm sure several posts will appear below this one and will quickly oblige with a quantity of baseless "answers" and "solutions" (to a completely undescribed probelm....you gotta admire these peoples abilities to answer questions that haven't even been asked yet) and of course a smattering of general "anti SEO doom and gloom" rants.

Even funnier, some are likely to give you very specific answers and methods to "solve this problem" (for which we have no detail), or "recover from a penalty" (of which - we have no clue) on a website you've given none of the detail for.

I love that bit - when people go all "Chaucer" based on ....nothing.

"Doc I've got a headache"

"Sorry to hear that Mr Haversham, if you'd like to take your trousers off and stand on the chair please"

"Erm why"

"Why not?"

Here we go...and...ACTION

I almost fell of my chair LOL when I read that because I see that kind of stuff all the time. The reason I did not give to much info here is because I know better. I will send you a PM.

Well... It's 7.30am here in the UK and here I am wondering through all the post's for the last hour... Doom & Gloom everywhere. As a novice and at my age I get more and more confused as to why my eCom site got hit. The more answers I read... the more confused I get (call it age)

Then... I read the post by Scritty.... You brought a smile to 'me face. Thank's for that!

Welcome to the world of SEO, where everyone is an "Expert".

Scritty, you sound like me. Tired of the countless noobs offering useless and baseless advice based off of no real experience just regurgitated puke from some other idiot posting baseless regurgitated vomit that he got from some other idiot who already vomited and regurgitated his own vomit?

OP, simple solution. Just start regurgitating the following and you will soon be able to answer your own questions in no time.

Like someone said already, in the world of SEO, everyone's an 'expert'!
The simple fact is that no one really knows why or how a site's rankings are fluctuating wildly. I doubt if even Google's own engineers have full knowledge of the repercussions they put into play when they make changes in the algorithm :)
Just focus on the factors which are really good - Press Releases, Social Media etc, and your site will come back to where it deserves to be!
Do keep us posted. Following your progress.

I'm pretty certain you're right. It's that complex and that many diffeerent "sub alogorithms" playing on such a massive data set with so many inputs and dynamics.

I doubt any one person could ever know in any real detail what the outcome of certain changes would be. [hence why it sometimes fecks up]
It's a black box process for us, and I bet it's "through a glass darkly" for Google.

Thing is you see people looking at the times it fecks up and taking that as proof positive of a completely different metric to the one that is REALLY at applies.
They have a conspiracy theory, then it's "confirmation bias" when they see the slightest hint of evidence that they might be right, ignoring the mass of evidence that they are wrong.

Google reorders 1.7 TRILLION URL's, it get's 0.01% wrong, and people take what they see in that 0.01% and base their SEO around that - ignoring the 99.99% of other evidence.
BHW is full of noobs doing that.

"Lolz, this site is ranking 2 for mega keyword, all forum links and copied content. This is the way forward dudes! I sez so!"

I normally don't reply to these twats, but the thought is "Yeah - off you go f^cktard, take as many lemmings with you as you can on your journey to the cliff edge"

The only thing I can say to OP is if you tell us what your link ratio is, what is your anchor text ratios is, then we can see where you getting it wrong. people saying they get neg updates, and some say they get a good positive updates, I will tell you this, those who get positive results towards the updates, are people who learn from penguin and panda updates, ya need to go back to them post created towards penquin and panda. Me personally havent seen any neg effects on over monthly 100 clients I manage.

A lot to learn on this thread. Always thankful for guys with more experience sharing instead of keeping it all in. Good stuff :)
