The U.S. is basically a "megacountry" like the EU is,its better to think of the individual states within the U.S. as countries,and decide which one of those you would like to live in. There is a huge difference in culture and economic activity in a place such as Rhode Island compared to Texas.

Careful now. Texas has many cultures and our economy is doing quite well thank you. Houston is as modern and diverse as any city in the world. Even liberals like it here. For the record. Texas isn't all tumbleweeds, rattlesnakes, rednecks and cactus. We have lush forests, grasslands, wetlands, a fabulous hill country, and the friendliest people on average that I have seen in all my travels.
