Just checked out the group for the girls of BHW and it's looking pretty quiet in there! Although I don't think it matters much what your gender is in regards to IM, I'll admit to being curious as to what kind of female to male ratio goes on in BHW.

From what I've seen, WF seems to attract more women. I wonder if that's due to the fact that BHW is a black hat forum.

I think in the online IM world there is enough discrimination against women already. Women don't really help that when they draw attention to their gender.

There's a ton of girls here, many more than the men think. For obvious reasons most don't let others know that they are girls.

I don't think "letting people know you are a girl" is going to help. By drawing attention to your gender and bothering to put that as your user title you are basically using that as your identity. Instead of choosing to showcase your achievements, you are choosing to showcase your gender. You are choosing to let that define you. Well - the reality is that most females in male-centric online areas tend to use their gender as a badge of honour. There is nothing honourable about being a girl in IM. You're just another person. The more attention you draw, the more you make the stigma worse.

Just use your achievements as your identity. Rightfully so, people look upon females who blatantly showcase their gender with suspicion, given GOTIS.
