I have one blog that's just laying around. I thought about giving it a "facelift" and get into buysellads with it?

So, my question is, what do they pay attention to when a blog is submitted?
PR, alexa rank?

they look for niche if your blog general you will declined, and you need alexa under 100k.

Did you manage to earn some cash? How easy it is to sell the ad space?

It's easy to sell ads there if your alexa is good. You can trick it by buying fake traffic.

You are right. If a user have 1 site got approved, he can get another sites approved even the alexa ranking is far above 100k.

Yes, i did. its quite easy for good established sites. choose right niche, right price.
Sometimes you also got free traffic from BSA.

Automotive niche is good, honestly how I made some good money was just making my ads cheaper than the rest and sold more of them. Techky stuff is huge there as well so it all depends on what site you have and what your willing to do but from my experience a unique site(designed) does much better than some regular wordpress theme site with not so great content.

Does this mean techy stuff has potential there, or it means the competition is big, and we should try some other niche?

Also, what payment options, besides PayPal do they offer?

I used buyselladds some time ago for a couple of my old AD files.
If you want to take the most of the ads, you have to carefully choose the media, not only because the different banner prices (some huge), but also for targeting. I mean, if your intention is to promote the files, think of readers, etc. But if your objetive are referals, then choose sites not related with design/dev, for example.
I can't tell you exactly which sales came from the banners (Envato analytics tool is just annoying imho) but anyway the expense was not high at all, and i guess just with referals i got was worth it.
Apart from this, Buysellads site and authoring system is pretty well built.

Mostly techky stuff can do well but any niche with low price ads can do well. Yes you can be paid by paypal or check don't know if my wire though.

Has anyone ever actually bought ad space on Buysellads? Like placing your banner on one of the sites? Has it worked well? Because I was thinking about doing it for my ecommerce store

I'm actually running a test on BSA ads now. Too soon (only a couple of days) but in a week or 2 if you'd like my thoughts le me know!

I have 4 times yet they are not approving do they prefer traffic and how much the traffic need to be?

I agree with your point some low quality sites too listed on there category
