How can I delete all pending comments at once?

This might be a dumb question so I apologize in advance.

At the same time, it would be an easy way to get some gratitude and a free Thanks! if you need a little boost for the day

I have 15,838 pending comments on my blog that i know are all garbage because I have used a comment exporter to fish out all the good ones (there were only 3).

So I want to delete them all at once, but the only option I see only allows me to delete 1 page at a time.

How can I do this?

when you are in yoursite.com/wp-admin/edit-comments.php

Top right hand corner ... you will see a tab labelled Screen Options.

Click on that, and you will get the option to change how many 'comments' you are viewing at any point.

Set that to something high like 500, and then you can bulk delete.

Pretty much the quickest way without installing any plugins.

That said, Google for ... wordpress plugin delete pending comments ... you will see a couple of plugins that allow you to do just that.

Thanks judson ... I knew the option had to be somewhere and I was looking right past it.

Blackxhat: Used a plugin called "export comments" from
wordpress.org/extend/plugins/export-comments/

Next, exported all pending comments to csv, sorted them, browsed through quickly and when i found legit comments I went back to my WP comments page and search for either the person's e-mail or part of their comment and approved them.

The easiest way is through mysql or phpmyadmin. You can just go in and find the tables for the comments you want to delete and wipe them out. Just be sure to back up your database first.

Why do you want to delete the pending comments? Are they spam? You can use the Akismet plugin for wordpress. It's designed to filter spam comments. It comes free with wordpress free hosted site, but has a fee of about $5 per month for own domain with paid hosting sites running on wordpress.

there is a plugin called delete pending comments that can do it real quick. hasn't been updated in a long time but still works.
i use it on a few sites and love it.

If you know a little about PHP Myadmin, just one line of code does the trick, make sure you backup your database first however. Just run this command...

DELETE FROM wp_comments WHERE comment_approved = 0


but backup your database before doing so.
