Hello,

as the title already tells, how hard/easy will it be to rank this .net EMD? Should I go for it or should I run away from it?

Thanks in advance.

It has 12.100 Global and Monthly Searches according Adwords keyword tool. Don't have a position yet as I'm not sure if I should register the EMD but it's available.

Why would you need to know monthly searches to determine the competition?

The OP need advice regarding "whether he can go for it or run away from it". That's why i need the monthly searches, not for determine the competition.

12,100 is pretty good to go. what about the competition?

If u want to go for that keyword, then u have to spend $$$ for linkbuilding. It all depends.

IMO I would stay away from it unless it was a niche you are passionate about and don't mind if you put a lot of effort into it and don't see any rankings right away or if the epc or how you are going to monitize it is great.

Traffic Travis shows it as relatively easy because most of the sites are missing the KW in the title desc and H1, which is good for you, but the PR, authority and backlinks are pretty difficult to compete with (IMO), unless, like I said above you don't mind putting a lot of effort into it.

When I come across KW like that in Traffic Travis I look for at least one ranking site to have a low amount of links, 0 pr and 0 auth. This tells me that a relatively new site can rank for it, you have to think that if you have a decent KW with 12k exact searches and a good CPC you probably aren't the first person to consider it, so chances are if there are no new sites like that then people have tried and failed.

Thanks for your opinion. In fact it is something I'm passionate about. It's for a game. And even better I have almost all the content ready already, because I had a site a few years ago about the same stuff. But I didn't understand linkbuilding etc and EMD back then.

But from what I hear it will be pretty tricky to rank. I'll consider it a little, as it's not hard for me to write content for the site.

It depends on how much you are willing to do for your site. either you need to put in a lot of time or money or a mix of both

If it's something your into then by all means go for it! It's not impossible to rank, just might take a little while. In the mean time you can find other ways to drive traffic (social media, youtube etc), especially for a game site. Trust me, it's a hell of a lot better to work on a site you are actually interested in than ranking a site about polyps to make .10 adsense clicks.

Don't let the competitiveness hold you back in this case. Worst thing that will happen is you won't rank the site on the first page but you will gain a lot of knowledge along the way. Just don't go broke trying to do it.

Alright, I've decided to jump into it indeed. Wish me luck :P

by the way does EMD really matters these days?
i read an article from seomoz which says EMD does not gives you a major SEO boost.EMD sites are not anymore ranking well like those in the old days.

Without looking at the type of backlinks that the competition is building, it's hard to truly judge the competition since numbers can be misleading. However, this one is not likely to be newbie friendly. I'd say keep looking for a low-competition niche
