Whats up Blackhatters

I booked a one way ticket from Toronto to Thailand for oct 4th and I'm super stoked.

My plans are to continue with my jiu jitsu and mauy thai training down there while maintaining the cashflow from beaches and other ballerific locations.

Plans are to spend the first month in Bangkok then head out to Tiger Maui Thai in phuket for 2 months and train my ass off. After gonna do a visa run and maybe check out chang mai for a bit then decide if i wanna stay in chang mai, go back to phuket or return to Bangkok.

Making this thread to get some tips anyone has thats been there or currently lives there as well as possible meeting up with blackhatters down there.

Nice choice... I visited Thailand last year. You must visit Bangkok, Chang mai, Koh Samui, Phuket and Hua Hin(if time permits)Koh Tao is best place for diving.have fun mate :)

Been in Pattaya for a year, thinking 'bout ditching the country soon...

I've seen lot worse in my days, so while Patts ain't raking that high either, I've had my fun and it's time to move on. Maybe heading back to Europe... Only time will tell ;)
 
I found it next to impossible to get any work done there at all :D
 
how hard is it to setup a business? I heard you need to marry a Thai chicka
 
I also went to Thailand around 3 or 4 years ago and don't forget to drop by Koh Samui if you have some spare time, the beach over there is pretty cool ;)


Btw, hit me up if you have some free time and interested to pay a visit to Malaysia, it's just beside Thailand ;) hehehe
 
I live here, the novelty soon wears off. Im planning a trip around asia in the next couple of months. You should be aware that a Thai tourist visa only lasts for 28 days. You can go to cambodia for like $60 on a visa run, but that only gets you an additional 14 days. If you go Laos or Myanmar you will get an extra 28 days.

The cost for overstaying your visa is $15 per day if you exit the country via land. However for short overstays like a few days, this is waived if your leaving via an airport.
 
Let me tell you I have lived in several countries in Asia and if ever a place was over rated Thailand is the place!

Bangkok is a fabulous city but as the years go on it has become more expensive if you want to live life full on.
