Hey just a quick questions,

If I change my WP theme to something different, will it affect my link juice or SEO efforts? will it stunt the rankings? if so, is there any way to avoid this or to put something in place, to lessen the stunt etc.

Thanks

Soudy

No it won't. It may cause errors in your pages but it will not reset the backlinks.

Backlinks point to your domain name not your theme. If you change your domain name then yes it will. Other than that it will be fine.

What the... I don't even...

Why would changing theme affect your backlinks.

Because, BEFORE my theme swap i was on the first page, now im out of the top 100. I was asking if resetting my theme does anything. because i know i had some aged posts, then wen i re did my theme the posts are all new. i had posts going back to like 2008. Now there all like new ones. hence my question :) thanks guys

Well Yes changing theme may affect rank.

Themes are coded differently, some are totally not optimized, some others are seo optimized.
Each theme has a score for Google. Tags, Posts, Categories, Pages and so on.

Different internal link structure, different optimizations, different heading settings might mess with your rank.

Changing themes will not affect ranking provided

1. Your permalink structure or the individual links has not changed
2. Your theme is coded without errors. 99% of the themes are error free.

Check the above 2. If the permalink structure has changed, your rankings will definitely drop. However, if it is 301ed internally, ranking may come back.

It does have huge effect when the links internally changing, like breadcumbs, tags, categories, etc. Everythings changed, Google needs to 'reformat' your SERPs.
