Changing Youtube Titles Resets Your Rank?

My friend said he was averaging at least 30,000 views and more everyday for the last two years for a comedy video. He changed his title two months ago to include higher searched keywords and since that exact day he changed it now its only averaging 20 views a day for those last two months.

Can anyone confirm this or know why this punishes you and how to get it ranking the way it was again?

you'd think the traffic change from 30K to 20 views a day would be enough confirmation. just change the title back duh lol

But if you change it back, it will just start over again right? Wouldn't it be better to keep the new title with the higher searched keywords and wait for it to rank again?

The same thing happened to me, changed to higher searched title- was 3rd originally and after weeks I am now 8th on the new one.

Not only for YouTube the same thing can happen on Google if you change your keywords, title. Just last week I was on number one spot for a new hot product and averaging 30, 000 daily for over two weeks straight since I launched the video. But immediately I changed the description and added a URL in order to monetize the video other than ad sense, I lost ranking completely within few hours.

Not only for YouTube the same thing can happen on Google if you change your keywords, title. Just last week I was on number one spot for a new hot product and averaging 30, 000 daily for over two weeks straight since I launched the video. Maybe the keywords aren't so searched like the old ones. And I don't think the rank resets if you change the tittle.

I tend to never change any meta data on my popular videos, I don't add/remove tags, etc. If it's going good so far than don't be greedy and shoot yourself in the foot.

I'm guessing changing them back will not give you your rank back, it will probably just reset it all again

This is crazy, I never knew that once you change your title you're just screwed forever! There's nothing you can do to fix it to be the way it was?

What about changing the date in the title of your video but keeping everything else the same?

See i feel like I had a video that wasnt getting a lot of hits but after I changed the title to more of the keywords it got more hits.

Even changing the description and tags would affect the video as i have experienced it many times.

Thanks for posting this. I've read a lot into youtube and no one has ever mentioned this. It makes sense why you would lose your rank but it was something I never considered.

I was trying to think of a way to get around this. My only thought was repost the video(without making any changes to the original)with your new keywords/title/description as a video response to the original. Not really a viable solutions but just a thought I had.

Isn't it possible that your view count went down because there's stronger competition for those popular keywords?
