I've got a few sites that are not monetized. They get a bit of traffic, but nothing ground breaking. They have good value, though, because of their placement on google (page 1 for several keywords) and their content.

How do I sell these? I've tried DP, but people offer like $50. I want a bit more than that, because as we all know, it takes some time and effort to get a site to front page of google.

To be totally honest, I don't need to get a lot out of them, I'd be happy with $150-$200. Does anyone know of some good places or prospects for selling sites like this?

If the front page rankings have "good value" as you claim, then why not monetise the sites and sell them after they've made you some cash?

Most buyers don't value traffic and don't pay based on potential. Buyers want to see that the site they're buying is generating revenue.

Sure, you can offload the site for $50 on DP or $100 (minus $50 in listing- and upgrade fees) on Flippa but if the sites actually have any value then you're far better off building them up properly, pocketing some cash along the way and then offloading them (if you still want to).

try flippa and sedo. they are the best in market.

This is a horrible suggestion.
Sedo is for domain names. Not websites. Full stop.
Unless the domain names are of medium- to high value, the chances that these sites sell on Sedo are virtually none. And even if the domain names to have value, you can almost never get a quick deal on Sedo so it's only an option if you're willing to have them listed for half a year or longer.

I was not going to reply in this thread but it was the contrast in these two posts that led me to post this reply. The experience speaks in the words of a person. We all know how experieced Bryan and Thomas are in their field and hence the knowledge.

Not accusing "kamdica" for anything and just taking as example:
If I were to buy a service, say looking for SEO... scenario 1: I get a detailed enlightened reply like Branyon did but he charges $1000 for this.
Scenario 2; I get a reply like "kamdica" did but offers SEO service for $750.

Most newbies will go with Kamdica because he's offering cheaper services and they save $250 but in the end they'll post a thread in the shitlist section because they lost their $750 as well.

Moral of the story: Go with the knowledge of the person and not with the price.

I concur, sedo is a bag of crap anyway... There are better options out there. Flippa, yes. Forums. I'm yet to find a really good domain sales place.

try flippa

What!

Best read up on something it helps you and also hopefully points others in the right direction

starts with earning and life gets easier, price goes up, why wouldn't you do that?

I agree with this, but I don't have time to focus on these sites. I am focusing on ones that are already paying out. I might find some free time, but so far, I've had these going since June, and I haven't had the time to focus on them. It is basically a matter of prioritizing time. Most of my time is going towards my projects that are already earning.

It is not really just a matter of throwing adsense on them. One of the sites is a funny photo site, and I'm sure Google would ban me. The other site is not an information site, it is more of a directory.

And to be honest, I was not asking a lot for these sites, anyway, $100-$150. In my opinion, DP is a good place to find sites to buy, not necessarily a great place to sell them. People want a lot for very little over there, it is a saturated market, so it's hard for the seller. I have seen decent sites that are earning decent money ($100/mth) go for as little as 3-4 months revenue on DP.

I know, sites don't have much value unless they are earning. I guess I'll just have to bite the bullet and find some time towards monetizing these sites.

yeah, I'm not willing to sell on Flippa. It is a waste of money IMO, especially for sites like this.

Why not slap some adsense code on them and wait a few weeks. Then you'll be able to sell them and they'll be monetized...
On flippa, sites often get 12 months worth of earnings. While they have higher fees, you'll make it up if you're getting 12 months earnings versus 3 to 4 on DP.

they are not suitable for adsense. Need to find another network that allows photos of women in tight pants and stuff like that.

i have seen many "funny image" sites with adsense on them. you should be ok

yeah, I got a warning already from adsense about it. They don't like the women in tight pants and stuff like that.

Chances are there are a few Buyers who would still like to purchase you site.
In the real world outside of IM people are much more willing to pay for potential than profits.
The challenge is you have to educate and sell them on the idea.
Check you stats on SEMrush Try listing on small business sites or maybe even Ebay.

Run over to Flippa and search the cameltoe listing that closed a week or two ago. If I remember right it wasn't monetized well either and some fool bought it. One guy sold a boner website awhile ago for good money so now all the copycats are giving it a try. New boner and cameltoe websites almost weekly.

Flippa says no adult theme websites but it's a lie. Unless you have gentials exposed they don't give a rats ass. Adult novelty sites galore with dildos and see-through lingerie shots right on the home page, no problem at all. I even asked them what about being family friendly? No response. Check out those listings and you'll see what I'm talking about.

Some big adult sites are using the Juicy Ads network, don't have experience of it myself but might be worth a shot and a decent alternative to Adsense.

I would choose to monetize a website or blog most of the time, but it really depends on the look, intention and balance of the said blog or website. For instance, Search engines do not like sites that are very heavy on ads or promotions and light on content, but are you relying on search engines for your traffic?

I think there is more to this question than simply yes you should monetize, or no you shouldn't.
