I am having a lot of visitors on my ecommerce website but it does not convert. Is it a good idea to redirect the site to my main site?

For an ecom site it would be best to forward any satellite sites to the main site once they have achieved some decent rankings.

I have an ecomerce site that got a boost of traffic a few days back. Is it beneficial if I will redirect this visitors to my main site?

so if you build a pagerank for a satellite site, then 301 the traffic , that improves the pagerank of your main site? wouldnt that not last very long?

Eljon02,

Redirecting the high PR domain to your money site (which I assume has a low PR) will increase the ranking however that will not last for very long. Why not just focus on the domain that you are achieving high traffic levels with and converting visitors there? What are your goals for redirecting? Is it to convert visitors or to increase the PR of your main site?

Check out this post highlighting an interview with Google's Matt Cutts where he metions that a 301 redirect does not transfer all PR to the new site,

Hope this answers your question,

I don't know. I'm having the same question. I'm not sure if my store should be a top-level domain or a subdomain, and I haven't attempted yet to redirect because I don't know if I should. I'm going to keep the feedback of this thread in mind.

Redirect the whole site to your main site. It works perfectly fine. Also, the days of a redirect not passing all benefit are gone, they pass all benefit now. If you have a site not converting redirect it to your main site. It is exactly the thing to do. Don't be scared. I have done loads of redirects they work and they stick.

The reason why I will be redirecting is because the ecom site does not have any conversion despite that it has over 300 visitors per day and its because the ecom site is not yet finished and it is on a total mess. The main site however has been customized and I think it would convert if I redirect them to my main website which apparently still has no conversion either on sales or adsense.
