taking content from my penalized site to my new site

I have a site that has been penalized due to a xrumer blast gone bad. although it is still indexed, it has completely disappeared for all its keywords. I was hoping it would come back, I even built a lot of high quality backlinks to it, but it's not come back and I decided I am just going to let it go.

so I registered another domain, but I would hate to create another website from scratch. so I am wondering if I could just take the files from the penalized site and upload them to this new site? has anyone ever done this? if I do this, will google penalize my new site too?

Keep the old site and just build a second site with new content. You never know when the old site will pop back and then you have not 1 but 2 sites and extra traffic in yiur niche

ok then, i will do that.
I am thinking instead of letting the old site just sit around and do nothing, I will be scrapeboxing it 24/7. just as an experiment. I mean it cant get any worse than this, can it.

Keep the old site, add content and keep building links. Don't just fuck it up fit the sake of it!

What if you want to target the same keywords, and you have the same sites under same hosting? Will this be an issue?

Why would you target the same keywords on 2 sites? There are billions of keywords out there go find some new ones.

Hmmm.. let's see...you've found yourself dozens of great keywords that you know convert, but you're not ranking for those keywords anymore because you're site is penalized.

No issue but these days to be safe i would host the new site on a different hosting account. i have 3 host accounts and sometimes have 2 or 3 sites targeting thesame keywords/niche.....

I wouldn't recommend it especially after the Penguin update. Switching content from one penalized site to another legitimate site does not make it allowed and it will raise a red flag to Google, they're on top of EVERYthing!
