So Bing says they've been doing blind comparison tests, and that 2 to 1, people prefer Bing results even though they mostly use Google. And they're basing their new ad campaign off this.

What do you think? Bing results are actually pretty solid, and they were the first to give webmasters the link disavow tool, maybe they are ahead of the game except that G got there first and has the brand recognition.

A Bing spokesperson tells WebProNews, "Although most people identify themselves as Google searchers, an independent study commissioned by Microsoft Corp. shows people chose Bing Web search results over Google nearly 2-to-1 in blind comparison tests. Given those findings, Bing decided it is time to let people see for themselves that there is a better option in search."

"Beginning today, America can click and choose which Web search results it prefers by participating in the Bing It On Challenge, accessible via BingItOn.com," he adds. "Based on research that indicates people prefer Bing Web search results over Google, Bing is inviting people nationwide to come and see for themselves with an online test designed to show that the quality of Bing's Web search results has surpassed Google's."

They made the test public.. I can tell which is which, but maybe most can't.

I have seen few of my friends using bing to search. Didn't asked them the reason for switching from google.

Bing seems to give me better and more relevant results these days, but google is too much of a habit.

It's almost instinctive to go to google to look something up.

I recently heard from an Apple spokesperson that Apple customers prefer Apple products! I know... it's hard to believe but just try to wrap your mind around that factoid.

Statistics can be warped, misconstrued, phrased a specific way to get across their marketing and I can almost guarantee their rise in usage is heavily mobile users... using Microsoft powered devices.

I was using DuckDuckGo for a while, but their image search is a little wonky. I'm too used to Google's format where you just click "images" and you get it. DuckDuckGo took me to some other image search site, which I didn't like.

Although I don't like how Google does business and tries to run the world, so maybe I should make an effort to get used to it.

Bing wasn't studying Bing customers, they were mostly Google users. So I'd be like Apple studying Android users.

I'd like to see an independent blind study, but I wouldn't be surprised if this is somewhat accurate.

Microsoft needs to stop with the advertising of that shite IE9 browser and hammer away on this until the cows come home. I mean hard.

What Chris says about Google being a habit is exactly correct. Google does not yield superior search results; it is, however, expected to yield superior search results (see Expectancy Effect in various psychological research). Moreover, Google is simply in bed with all the right factions and business cadres so as to 'subliminally' shape this very habit that they, themselves, are they architects of. Google is, however, winning the browser war because they really and truly offer a 'better' browser.

Google is like the Budweiser/Coors/Miller of search, it tastes like shit but it's beat in peoples head.

To be honest Bing seems to give better and more relevant results rather than Google with some SEO based sites that keep providing junks. Those sites should be banned.

I also started using bing for some time now. But when it comes to doing some SEO stuff, then I do go back to google.

Yup, I use Bing for my personal search and G for SEO. I talked to a random old guy while waiting in line at the store and he said he can't stand Google's search. He said he was looking for a store and couldn't even find it when searching for the name. So I think more people are getting away from them, but it's a slow exodus. He also said he was scared off by all the privacy issues. But they're still the top dog, guess we will see for how long.

Bing image search is coo. they do have moderation enabled based on IP. otherwise the results are awesome and way better compared to google.

For personal use not in any way related to what I do for a living I use DuckDuckGo
For business, Google, then Bing, then foreign search engines just to gauge what they're indexing.
Yahoo = Never, never even by accident.

Also I probably only use Bing because my sites seem to consitently just killllll on Bing. Like a site that never gets indexed or ends up in the 80s on Google is my Number 1 on bing for a year. Weird.

Its like If you cannot find something you are looking for on Google, then you use Bing!
Jokes apart, but I find more relevant result most of the times on Bind rather than on Google.

I guess I'm going to opposite direction here, I can't stand Bing.

I use google just for the doodles... check out todays.

FYI, Yahoo and Bing serve the exact same search results...
