Had a WTF moment today

Someone contacted me to buy a site of mine today. He asked what I wanted for it and I gave him a fair price, actually a pretty good price and he said that he was interested. He asked me to take my ads off of it and do a few minor things to get ready for the transfer and said he will paypal the money in the morning. Later the same day I get an email from him saying that he would only be willing to pay $100. This is for the domain, logos, site and forums. WTF? That shit is insulting. I told him I would let it go for $1k and honestly I would charge someone 2-3 grand for the amount of work I put into that site. The logo itself was professionally one in 3dmax. I was even going to set it all up on his server for him, just being a nice guy and as a token of appreciation for the business. I was hoping he would need my services in the future.

That's how people are who want to buy something. They think their $100 is worth $10,000. It's insulting and I tell them that. Be upfront with ignorant people like that. They need it.

I think you are right. I hate burning bridges so I was polite about it when I refused but he kinda showed me how he will be in the future. Probably not worth the time.
I hate that he wasted my time having me do stuff and then bombed on me. I should send him a bill for that shit.

ha I didn't even think about those tools. I was thinking someone else told him that or maybe he was just trying to see if I was desperate to sell.
I didn't explain much to him, I just told him that the logo itself was worth more than 100 bucks and there was a lot involved in the site creation. I guess I should be more specific.
Maybe I will write him back and try to show him the value. I just don't want to waste my time for some buyer who isn't serious.

you devalued your site in the first place, why are you shocked that he is doing the same thing? If your website worth 3k your first asking price should be at least the 4-5k or make him put an offer. Most people won't pay the first price they hear and will think they are being ripped off

After he came at you with $100 offer you should of came back at him with an additional $100 charge of your original price, and told him price went up for being stupid.
Next time try not to come off to needy, like trying to help him out with every little thing like setting up site on his server, accepting lower offers, etc...
Like post above mines said, if your already saying your site is worth thousands, blah blah blah, and your selling for 2-3k than the guy offers you $100, then you say 1k final offer.
The guy almost paid 2-3k , and you lowered your final price big time, i wouldnt buy the site now that i know your willing to sell the site that low, when i was about to pay 2-3k

The site doesn't have much traffic so I don't have a way to substantiate the 4-5k. I can substantiate 2-3 of it though. It's a new site I did in my spare time.

The only number thrown out was 1k. He accepted it right away and I know he was getting a deal but honestly I can use that extra grand to spend on something else I have had my eye on. I was just hoping for a quick sale. Plus I can just build another site similar to that one, no big deal really, it would just take me some of my time. I probably should have just told him 3k though. Ah, oh well.

Game site. 1000 games. Has control panel. Has forums (forums new, no users. site does have users though.) Nice custom logo and graphics. Just a really nice game site.

If the site is really worth $1k put it on Flippa and send him a email with a link so he can bid against others.

If you offer too much too soon, the perceived value decreases. ie, you offered to do a lot of things for free (setting up the site and whatnot). It's better if you offer the same at a 'cheap price' and let the buyer negotiate from there. He'll end up feeling he got a nice deal.

2-3 of those listed every day on Flippa. The days of profitable flash game websites passed a couple years ago but noobs still think you can just install the script or game plugin and build an audience.

As a computer repair store I see all the older generation playing Big Fish and another site I can't remember the name of. I've never seen them with a list of bookmarks to all these independent flash sites. I'm not sure what demographics those template flash sites target but it has to been a real small audience.

haha. He asked me how much would I let it go for after I said no to the 1k and I told him 1k again. I told him that I would make a site for him for cheaper and just price it accordingly. No reason to burn a bridge.
