Can I ask for thanks in my posts?

Sure, that doesn't mean you'll get them though unless your post is good.

It's allowed, although frowned upon.

If you deserve thanks, you'll get it.

:)

If you give freely without asking for thanks (and your post is considered valuable), people will thank you freely.

Asking for thanks is like a trade-off. And it is an attempt at "guilt-tripping" people into showing their appreciation, and it's very tacky.

Imagine This:

You are standing at a doorway of a store, and a lady is coming through with her arms full of packages. If you hold the door open for her and say, "Don't Forget To Thank Me!", she will probably thank you, but it won't be genuine, and she will probably be thinking, "What a jerk this guy is!"

Now Let's Change The Picture:

You hold the door open for her and just smile and say, "Here You Go, Ma'am". . . More than likely, she will say Thank You and her thanks will be genuine, and she will probably think, "What a cool person that was!"

Do You See The Difference? . . . I hope so.

Yeah, wiz about summed it up. It's just "tacky".

We actually don't condone this, and if the mod see it and feels like it they're free to remove all thanks received for any post.

You're better off just not even mentioning Thanks in your post.

grr I just sort of asked for thanks in one of my posts. Sorry about that it won't happen again. Also in real life I am quite the gentlemen but I just can't seem to show it off online =)

If you are soliciting thank you's, you will not see the true value of your contributions as perceived by the other members.

You cant eat thanks, you cant spend thanks, they really dont have any real value.

If you made more money if you had more thanks that might be a different story, But you dont.

Dont worry about the thanks, make money and help others.

Do you ask people to thank you in real life?
How is this in anyway different?

Gie, without expecting. Else don't.
:)

Just remember, the TRUE purpose of the Thanks button is to help prevent people from cluttering up the threads with "Thanks for the share" type posts.

It's just a convenience, that's all.
