Any Dmoz mods here?

I am working for a legitimate business based in Australia. Our submission on Dmoz is being delayed for no reason. Are there any mods who can approve our submission? Please help.

They are so slow man, you will be lucky to get any feedback, approval expectations inside 1 to 2 years if you are lucky

There is a saying, "DMOZ is the best directory you can get listed in, but you can't". I have never gotten listed in DMOZ.

Ive submitted things to DMOZ years before hearing anything. to be 100% honest, its just not worth the trouble. Think of how many links you could acquire in a couple of YEARS. Focus on getting other links, tell DMOZ to kiss your ass.

I haven't tried it but I have talked to a moderator online before and he told me the quickest way to get inside is to become a moderator. You apply to be a moderator and don't tell them the whole purpose is to put your site in and then you put your own site in DMOZ. Moderators are broken down by categories so you need to apply for the category you want to put your website in. Most moderators have sites in the category they are moderating and they pretty much have the monopoly on who they let in or not.

DMOZ is a tough choice.
They does not give as many flexibility as others.
But if you manage one that will be very helpful for you.

Mostly submissions are put on hold because of the unavailability of good customer support. DMOZ is not good anymore.

With all due respect it is a hand approved directory and has PR7 home page.

The PR is one thing and it isn't bad, but the authority is incredible, 12 year old domain with 36 million indexed pages, all of it human verified and approved.

If you are doing SEO and do not understand domain authority you need to read up on it. PR is a more or less an abstract rank metric, authority is not. A backlink passes rank and authority.

If you think a link from DMOZ is useless you need to learn more about SEO. That single link is worth thousands of the crappy ones you get from your backlink blasts.

You basically have to become an editor to get your site approved. DMOZ still matters especially if you ever want to sell the site although getting in is next to impossible these days.

Working online since 2002 and after two hundred websites built and submitted none of them have been listed there. Still worth if You get a backlink from. Good luck

I run a few cats, everyone on dmoz is busy though, if you have discussions amongst editors it goes on for ages because volunteers don't have lots of time to devote.

On top of that, not all cats even have active editors, meaning you'll be waiting a long time.

I have only ever got one site listed (probably only submitted 5/10 sites).

I'm sure I've seen a thread on here in the past few months from a user who got himself on the moderation team.

If I recall correctly he was moderating in the technology niche, if that makes any sense. I've not looked into it before so don't know whether they split their mods into niches, but this rings a bell in my old brain.

I'm not a moderator but I've bought a few DMOZ listed sites and then just 301 them to the money site, works better and doesn't take 12 years, LOL. PM me if you need help with this. I've got a few dozen listed sites.

This is so true... while trying to get one of our sites listed we decided to try and become a moderator... After investigating the links that where listed in our catagory... about 20 total... all of them belong to the same person connected via server, ip or matching affiliate links. DMOZ needs to be thrown in the trash.
