Can you tell me why now ive downloaded the new version of proxy multiply via the in software update proxy booster is no longer installed and you expect me to pay an extra fee to get it back,this was included in the cost of the old version

Hi jcm, I apologize for the confusion but the Proxy Booster add-on has always been a paid upgrade. Despite that the initial release of the Add-On system was erroneously showing the Add-On as 'INSTALLED' for all users regardless of payment status, the Add-On was not actually functioning for you (or anybody else that did not purchase the upgrade). The lack of functionality was apparent by opening the Add-On settings and trying to view the URL database, which showed all URLs as having 0 proxy results.

I understand that this must be confusing and frustrating and I appreciate your understanding in this matter. Every new feature introduces new bugs as they say in the software world

Jrim, I have run across a problem with the proxy booster add-on. I tried to restore the URL database to the original ones that come loaded in PM but cannot seem to do it. Hi kicka, you can reload the normal leech list by clicking Configure -> Proxy Fetching URLs -> Reload Default URLs. By default, the Add-On doesn't weed out URLs until 7 days have passed. I would recommend increasing the add-on purge setting back to the default of 7 days so the list isn't weeded too often. Furthermore, are you sure that the 'Check against specific URL' configuration is correct? Can you PM me a screenshot of that setting?

PM is a great piece of software. It is very configurable, has everything I need right now and the support is awesome. Jrim seems to know what he is doing and is open to suggestions on new features and add-ons. It is one of the best purchases I have made in the past year and I would highly recommend it to anyone needing a reliable proxy solution.

While there have been a few bugs here and there (normally when new updates are released), it is taken care of right away.

Glad that option works for you now, sorry for the confusion With regards to the Check Against option, I can assure you I have no interest in your methods; I just want to ensure that the text you are looking for on the page actually exists. I'll give you an example:




In the above image, the website is set to http://www.ticketmaster.com. The http:// part is critical for a proper URL. The most important part is the content to search for, which in this case is 'tickets' - the word 'tickets' occurs in the meta text of the page and HTML code several times. You can find content you are looking for on the page by viewing the HTML source of the page and pulling a small fragment (even just a single unique word) from the page that the program can then scan for. So, if I was using this forum thread as the 'check against' site, I would use the word 'proxy' as the keyword (or even 'proxy list', etc.)

Thanks man. I have the Check Against feature figured out and have been using it correctly for the past month or more. I have it set to look for a certain string after the <title> HTML field in the page source. I have been able to find 1400 or more working proxies each scan.

I demo it and was not impressed at all. The automatic email did not work and for the proxies I would get it took hours just to get a few 100 proxies. My demo has been up since the 18th otherwise I would have loved to see if the new update would make a difference.

I was really hoping this program would have got more working proxies because then it would have been on my buy it this Thursday list.

Hi real, sorry the program did not work for your needs. With regards to the automatic email not working for you, I will reiterate what was said in your support request: the automatic email works well for everybody else; a security software on your PC is most likely blocking the outgoing SMTP connection. Many security software programs do block SMTP/email outgoing connections by default (other than those from Outlook or other well known programs) because many viruses and worms utilize SMTP for spamming purposes.

I contacted bermanhosting and they said that they don't allow such programs as they scan IP's at many threads thus causing problems for their servers as it looks like a hack attempt.

Hi fraz, as you have found some VPS providers are more restrictive with their servers than others. As the host mentioned, proxy testing is internet intensive and creates numerous outbound connections. If you find a VPS that is not as restrictive with its internet access, it will work great. I run Proxy Multiply 24/7 on a VPS personally and have no issues.

For Korea you have this:

Most of us are going to use a Split function that delimits on the comma. Because the comma is embedded in the token, we run into bad parsing problems. If you can change this to "Republic of Korea"

that would make more sense and we can parse easier, else its going to be a pain in the ass to parse left to right looking for double quotes.

You may want to look in other parts of the output for this type of problem too. This is the only one I came up with so far as I caught it in my database tables earlier today.

Also, consider the following for adjustments in the code:
1) HTTP: high anonymous elite proxy and other status' have a trailing empty space after. Removing it would be good as it would save us some CPU cycles having to trim strings.
2) Removing the "HTTP:" would also be good as its redundant when we have the Type column. That would cut down the width of the Status column as well, letting people with smaller width screens to "see more".

A typical use case is taking the automated output, parsing the CSV, and inserting rows into a database. I am glad you have the foresight to implement the feature to call a script after - this makes my life a hell of a lot easier.

Also, the error for not being able to write to the output file reared its ugly head again. I see you changed it to spit out an error to the console pane. :O)
Instead of the exception dump, can we get a "Cannot access C:\MyApp\Proxies.csv" because it is being used by another process" instead?

Hi Hat, I am sorry for the inconvenience but that is standard format for CSV files and it will not be modified. Quotes are used because otherwise how else would you encapsulate a comma inside of a value? If you look up "CSV Parse <your target programming language here>", there is most likely a built-in way to properly parse CSV, or somebody else has already written the code.

Also, consider the following for adjustments in the code:

The space after the status type can be trimmed in file outputs; that is certainly not an issue. However, the status column contains 'HTTP:' because some proxies (it is few proxies but you must account for all situations) offer both HTTP/SOCKS connection, or SOCKS4 and SOCKS5 connection, etc. Thus the preceding proxy type is necessary to properly describe what type of proxy the status is referring to.

Hi randolph, thank you for your business! Unfortunately your ISP does not allow programs like Proxy Multiply to test proxies. Your only option is to use Proxy Multiply solely as a proxy scraper but do not use it as a tester. You will need to use an online testing service like this one. I am very sorry for the inconvenience.
