I have a client who has a small SEO budget. Ideally, he wants to pay $10 -$20 a month ($120 - 240 a year annually) on SEO to target low competition keywords. He is looking to buy: social media traffic and backlinks.

I understand its a small SEO budget, but what would you recommend for him. The two suggestions i had for him are:

1. Buying social media traffic from linkcollider ( There is not enough traffic on that site, can you recommend an alternative ?)
2. Put some money in adsense. Afterall he is targeting low competition keywords.

Any other ideas ?
Are there any good SEO services that do a month to month plan.

Thanks for sharing,

I would not suggest buying traffic or using adwords with a budget that small. If he is wanting to target really low competition keywords, even good on-page seo may get him on the first page of Google and if not just do a small amount of manual backlinking.

$20 is way too low instead if he have a budget of $240/year, do some off page SEO campaign once in every 2 -3 months. Since you told its very easy keywords, you can create few web 2.0 , regularly , bookmarks and it should do the trick. Once in a while get some High PR links too. Ideally you should convince him to UP his budget a bit more.

$20 is not enough in this day and age, with the new updates you need more manual work, manual = more $$.
Only way would be to do it yourself, but you'll need $$$ for tools + experience.

Holy crap. You realize $20/month IS $240/year!?

So what's your ideal SEO budget to start a micro niche website to rank it to rank 1?

When it comes to Linkcollider, never buy tokens, earning them for free is really easy. Despite this, the views are really the only assured benefit as I'm not sure anything else works from time to time.

Don't use AdWords.

Perhaps use 2 months budget at once and grab a cheap diverse service here, there's more than a few you could choose from.

$120-$240 is what we said per year.. It's just not enough $ to maintain the site today.. At least if he's going to outsource it. Then again he is targeting low keywords, it's an adsense site, good chance it's a tiny site.. But here's what going to happen. He'll use most of that $ on a few services grow his link profile up fast, and then it will just drop off.. Just doesn't seem like a good long term stagey with all of the updates. It's going to be pain to stretch that money out and diversify his link portfolio. I only focus on building quality long term sites, so my opinion is going to widely vary from others, I'm accustomed to spending close to $6,000/month in expenses online. All in all, is it possible yes by a stretch, but I think you'd have to do more work yourself than what is outsourced. If it's a client, there's a good chance he's paying someone else because he doesn't have the time or knowledge to do it himself..

note: Sure he could do fivrr, but I question the majority of the services and their long term affects.. My thoughts..

According to my opinion, I won't go for that.....never got such minimum....a SEO can afford atleast double of that....

If someone cant afford $100 a month, he is not a serious business person and will never pay you what you are worth. Unless you are helping this person because of familial reasons, out of the goodness of your heart, I suggest you wish him godspeed and move on. Serving this customer will cost you the new customers you should be out hustling to get, and hold up the work you do for your paying customers.

I wouldn't even bother.

I will tell you the single hardest lesson I learned in SEO. You can help people till they buy a new house and you are still living paycheck to paycheck. GET YOUR MONEY now or get it later in writing or move on. They will not be grateful later, they will talk about how hard they had to work to build a business and never remember that it would never have been successful if you hadn't taken it online. If you are lucky, you get a Christmas Card each year.

I used to help so many people hoping they would tell their friends and I would get more business. It worked, they told their friends all about me including that with a sob story and a sad face, I would build them a site. One lady even brought pics for me to use on the website to me in a new Jaguar, wearing more money than my car cost. When my wife had a heart attack and I needed to charge for the little favors I did, the usual response I got was "I only use you because you are free".

Like I said, unless this is love, family, or community service, quit working on their success and work on your own.

I feel sorry for you Techxan but not everyone in the world be like that. Hope you are doing better now.

I wouldn't even take the client. Where's there room for your profit?

$10-$20 a month does not even begin to cover the time of communicating with the client let alone doing anything for him or her. Decline the offer and find clients that have budgets which will allow them to purchase more than a gumball.

Amen.

Thanks for sharing guys.

Has anyone had good experience with the fiverr gigs ?

Any place where i can buy small amount of backlinks. Something similiar to linkcollider.

This guy should take his money and buy the software to make his own bots. This way, he can have his own social media bots, as well as other platforms. If this isn't something he's willing to do, the best advice you can give that person is to get out of SEO.

I tried fiverr and it worked for "really" low competition keywords.

Does Fiverr even offer diverse link services for $5? Or just the typical "I'll hammer your site with a bazillion social bookmarks."?
