Buying aged/pr domains for blog network.....

I'm trying to build a blog network and was wondering what I need to look for when I'm buying domains. I'd like to buy domains with some age, so I can seo to them, but would also like them to have at least SOME prior backlinking to them.

What should I look out for, and how can I be sure that what I'm buying is indeed aged and has worthwhile backlinks to it? Also where should I shop?

For buying domains, I usually rely on Godaddy Auctions -

https://auctions.godaddy.com/

You can find domains there for pretty cheap price!

You can try also the following -

http://www.namejet.com/
http://www.dnforum.com/
https://www.snapnames.com/
http://www.pool.com/index.aspx

Basically, what I look for in a domain is age and PR which you mentioned as well!

You can check both age and pr through the following -

http://www.cekpr.com/
http://checkpagerank.net/

Now, let's do some manual work -

Search for the following terms in Google -

info:domain.com
site:domain.com

If both of them returns the domain in result, than the domain has legit PR.

For age -

who.is
http://www.samswhois.com/

You can check the registration date of the domain on these 2 sites and be sure about the age.

If you are not comfortable with buying domains, which may cost a lot of money and time of negotiation, I suggest you to use some drop catching tools like -

www.dropking.com
http://www.domainafterlife.com/category/drop-catching/

What they do is, when a certain domain is dropped aka deleted, these tools register that domain within seconds before anyone else register that domain! Though, do not expect to register those PR8 or LLL.com domains! The pros will beat you up in no time!

Personally what I've done is made a script that downloads drop lists(found a list where that gets stored as csv's and gets updated regularly) and once it downloads the list looks up for aged or high pr domains and emails them to me. If they have a really high pr/alexa it will aslo send me an sms. So yeah-cron that calls that script 3 times a day....

check out hayden miyamotos post at nohatseo, you can find high authority aged domains that arent in auctions, (aka you can get them for the price of registration). Ive been able to find 45 high quality ones in the last week, all for the cost of ~$450, which most people pay for 1-2 domains at godaddy.

What do you mean "legit PR"? Even sites with PR0 and no PR show up in site: searches.

Isn't that just a way to make sure the domains aren't blacklisted from Google?

Question: what if the domain doesn't show up in a site: search because the previous owner kept it parked the entire time. Wouldn't it not show up then, anyway, because its never had any content on it?

One other thing to check is DA (domain authority). Its starting to feel like its a better metric of the "linkjuice" you can pass with a domain than PR ever was. Its a metric by seomoz. You can check it from them directly but only 3 times per day at

Can use http://moonsy.com/domain_authority/ or http://www.outreachr.com/bulk-domain-checker/ as well. Checking the same thing. Little less info but you aren't limited to 3 per day.

Anything under 15 is a definite no go in my opinion. And even something between 15-25 would have to be very good on other factors to consider it. You are really shooting for about 25+ minimum. Again this is all based on my personal anecdotal experience

Why is everyone hung up on PR? Seriously, what you should be looking at are domains that have a huge link profile with good quality links and aged at least 3yrs. PR is unimportant. If you can get one thats great but a PR0 with a great link profile is far more beneficial. The last 5 domains i purchased have a great link profile with no pr at all.

Legit PR means it has a PR that is NOT fake! If it has PR it will definitely show up in the search result.

If it has a PR of 3-7, you must check the backlinks of it. No backlinks=301'd domain!

DA/PA both can be improved by you! With 25+ DA domain, the price will be pretty high! I buy usually 10+ DA domain and improve the DA/PA by placing unique content and regular backlinking. According to my study, aged domain's DA/PA can be easily improved.
