Great thread, keep up the updates OP. I read somewhere that a guy was able to get his site to page one using only retweets. Are your inner pages linking back to the homepage?

Yes inner page link back to home page.

The Overall reason of this case study is :
1) a lot of persons curious about twitter impact in seo including me
2) some one to try so rest other can decide whether to move on or not

You are damn Correct. Subbed and thanked for your hard work. :D

I think you should try Google Plus more good ranking... By the way how much amount you have thrown in tweets ?

Great case study, really helps the community. I will be following!

I think as i am doing retweets for 30 days, amount will be invested total $150. Here price is not a issue, i just want to confirm myself that how retweets work?

8th Updates: Ranking decreased to 37. I again tweet from another twitter profile and purchase 2500 retweets from fiverr vendor.

I will post updates tomorrow.

Are you getting any traffic from twitter now?

well i am doing this on a client's website, and client did not installed analytics on it and i do not have details of their control panel also. so this info, i can not get.

I do not think that retweets will have too much impact on rankings,
more towards to the authority of the domain, and legitimity of link profile.

Its definitely a good idea to test this thoroughly and I greatly appreciate you publicly doing this case study. I think if you arnt see too much results over the next week or two you shift gears and spend some of the budget on mixing and matching all types of social signals. For example, spending money with some facebook, pinterest, google plus, and instagram. You can find fiverr gigs on each of these. Also make sure to make it look natural. You can do a big burst periodically because that is what a buzz would appear to google, but make sure there isnt a point where the promotion just flat out stops. I feel that google would really look out for this. Either way, good luck man!

I have said it 100s of times on this forum in dozens of threads
SOCIAL SIGNALS DO NOT HELP RANK SITES.

I have tested this so extensively, it's not even funny. Even post penguin, 100s of thousands of retweets, FB shares, pinterest pins across daily posts on a site will not increase the page's rankings at all!
Linkedin doesn't work either.
+1s are playing with fire, and you'll likely get harmed more than helped.

At any rate, I've had negative results across 3 test sites when I did this as a ranking strategy as a side project.

Yes i read your posts where you mentioned that social signal did not help in ranking. But you never post any case study. So i am doing a case study where i am posting different tweets and retweets for those tweets with mixture of keywords. So we overall can get a good idea about twitter, tweets and retweets.

Expertpeon, google has bought twitters data centers and have made negotiations with facebook which were turned down. Plus facebook has recently tightened up security heavily within their site. Do you think all this is happening for no reason? I know your a highly reputable member of this forum so id say I completely trust your testing of this, but in the near future, there will be value within these social signals, wouldnt you agree?

Great case study. Thanks for actually taking the time and money to keep us updated.

Had a bit of insomnia last night and put this together.

It's yet early for conclusion, at least one more week to see is there an impact. I would agree that this would be better case study if you have tested social signals impact, not just twitter.

Twitter is teaming up with Apple (and an Apple search engine may just happen soon)
Facebook is already tied to Bing...

Pinterest generates NEGATIVE results (try it, you'll see)

There may be other signals, but I doubt it.
It was obvious why my tests failed to produce results, however. Google is not going to give their competitors (FB/Twitter/Apple) the ability to influence rankings in their engine. If they did that, it'd only make them more powerful.

Google and Twitter are not partnered at all by the way

If social media offers any more than a tiny, tiny fraction of Google's algorithm, it will create a spam war of epic proportions. Generating tons of retweets and such is so damn easy it's not even funny.

This is somewhat correct. But think about how anything new is discovered as far as SEO is concerned. When it was discovered that you could increase your rankings by using a massive amount of profile links and blog comments with Xrumer and Scrapebox (DIRECTLY on the money site in large quantities), it was an all out spam war. Social media is the next frontier because of how "natural" it appears to be. Why do you think google returns searches based on your g+ profile when you're signed in?
