GSA Search Engine Ranker - Extremely Powerful Linkbuilding Software (Free 5 Day Trial)

I'm having a problem with posting to pligg sites. The description on the pligg post is one keyword repeated over and over. It's happened on the two that I could find so I think it might be a bug.

Marc_L - I was always stop my projects...backup then update. I've had too many programs in the past where an update kills your data. :-)

following this thread is quickly becoming a full time job. it would be awesome if someone would volunteer to collect up the most useful posts in this thread (too many posts are technical issues or feature suggestions that really should be sent privately to the coders).

Santos, I think its high time to set up a forum for GSAs use now. the app is complex enough and strategies diverse enough that having sales threads discuss these issues is too cumbersome. please think about it.

It's already being done. Expect it very soon. This won't be a forum like most people are use to ... the forum is very basic and simple, but it should get the job done.

Just a quick question for you guys that target the UK or US market - Which Search Engines do you use?

I've recently changed my SE settings by right clicking and selecting 'Check all with English language' and can only think that this is the reason why recently my submissions and verifications have been very low. I was previously getting links from Danish, German and other European sites (using pretty much the default settings), which I didn't really want but wasn't that bothered about, but they were still quality links and I was seeing some serious improvements in rankings. In the past 8 hours today I've had 4 verified links over 8 projects and that's kinda been the trend since choosing that setting.

Why not try to right click and just select, "united states" and "united kingdom" search engines? Have you gave that a try yet? There are so many search engines and of course some are going to give way better results then others. Eventually we will know which search engines give the best results after enough testing has been done.

Please backup your project that's having the issue and send it to me via PM. Also send the links that are showing pligg post errors. This is the easiest way for Sven to look into it and see if something is wrong.

thank you. i just want to seperate the conversations about feature requests and technical problems from the conversations about how to best optimize the app and the advice people are giving (example, someone posted an awesome spun list of great blog comments. and now its gone into the abyss of this thread and nobody can find it)

Please make a sample list of sites that get this error, and post it here or pm it to me.

phpBB has been my pet project for the last few days. Its probably due to an additional antispam measure, but i would like to check it out.

Ok, its a bug for sure. I have a bypass for it, will post it if i cant get a proper fix after more tests.

I also have this issue. I just ctrl+alt+delete to close it down, which isn't ideal.

ALSO - anybody also have it where it doesn't update the selected category? I.e. you add some categories and it picks one. You then open project and change it to another category. BUT it doesn't change it, even though it looks like it's changed. Whenever you open project it always reverts back to first category that was setup with the project.

I'm having the same problem, and when i then force the program to close via ctrl+alt+delete, it throws up an error.

I did some research about the international SEs with the "search online for url"-tool and keywords "powered by vbulletin" and "leave a comment" website.

Here are my results without dupes (KW1|KW2):
-google (453|394) -> very, very fast
-msn/bing (145|17) -> wtf??. good speed though :)
-yahoo (855|825) -> very fast
-hotbot (850|807) -> moderate speed
-ecosia (849|792) -> very fast
-info (677|607) -> moderate speed
-lexxe (573|454) -> moderate speed
-metacrawler (416|416) -> moderate speed
-sky (406|305) -> moderate speed
-euroseek (430|287*) -> slow. *idle mode after some time (aborted)
-exalead (94*|599) -> moderate speed. *idle mode after some time (aborted)
-mamma (241|209) -> moderate speed
-ask (192*|129*) -> *idle mode (aborted)

crappy results: search, searchhippo, jayde
only page 1 results: blekko, dogpile, exite, gigablast, ixquick, scrirus, yandex
not working: aol, charter, clusty, lycos, scrubtheweb, teoma, thunderstone, verizon, volunia

I can't tell if somethings up with my config or with GSA as some results as MSN are disappointing. It would be a great help if someone can check the results and compare them to mine, before I start bothering Sven with the issues.

Well it can be found but it will take about 2.50121 hours to dig through everything and find it. :P I get what you mean though and like I said it will be here very soon.

This is awesome that you took the time to do testing on the search engines. Now we know which ones are best to use. Thanks for sharing. Ozz is the man

That's some top work mate.

I think I found the problem....description field had a bunch of spun keywords in it, but it would only produce one keyword. So my guess is GSA will repeat that keyword until it gets the 450 characters required....can you verify this? I have gone in and added better descriptions and will see how it performs.

I haven't heard of it reproducing a word until it reaches 450 characters. I'm pretty sure it doesn't do that. Maybe there was an error in your spintax? Let me know how it works once the new description is up and running.

I thought it might be the spintax, but I checked it -- was fine...it just only produced one keyword in that field though.
I'll let you know what I found out.

Further to my earlier post, if you are getting a lot of 'captcha not solvable by service' errors when using CS, change your captcha service to decaptcha. CS will still intercept the captcha (via a hosts redirect) and you should see a lot less errors.

This is clearly some kind of bug, and i am working to get it fixed, but until then this will help.

To the user who suggested using CS like this earlier (and whom i 'corrected', sorry about that), did you suggest this because of a similar bug? If so any details you have please PM me.

There seems to be lots of confusion over which captcha serive to use with GSA?
Can anyone advise what they use, cost, success rate and if you have a good success rate for links?

And CS? is this working? seem to keep reading mixed reviews about it .... any one help?

Is Lee on vacation? I've waited 45 minutes ;)

3.94 - new: parsing speed for site lists improved
- new: engine JCow (Social Network)
- new: engine "Article Beach" (Article)

I see that all of the websites using JCow engine are nofollow. So actually there is value by adding this engine... What links are you getting from this platform ?

Many times I see that SER is only registering on website. And what is next ??

16:28:18: [+] 15/20 matches engine UseBB - (not allowed to paste url)
16:28:18: [+] 15/20 PR-6 OK - (not allowed to paste url)
16:28:18: [+] 15/20 new URL - (not allowed to paste url)
16:28:18: [+] 15/20 registration successful - (not allowed to paste url)
16:28:19: [+] 16/20 matches engine UseBB - (not allowed to paste url)
16:28:19: [+] 16/20 PR-1 OK - (not allowed to paste url)

I use ShaniBPO as primary and deathbycaptcha as secondary. I use these because they're the cheapest around and have a great success rate. I don't know the exact cost for captchas - you would need to check their website for that.

I don't have CS so I can't really comment on it.

I see that all of the websites using JCow engine are nofollow. So actually there is value by adding this engine... What links are you getting from this platform ?

The software has a mix of platforms that are nofollow and d0follow. It's good to have a mix of both to appear more natural. If you look at your link reports/graphs you will see a lot of the links you get are d0f0llow.

Many times I see that SER is only registering on website. And what is next ??

The software does a bunch of different things. It might register at sites, then check emails, then do something else and something else and something else. The logs don't show every single thing the software does. It's best to let the software run and do its thing and then if it appears to not be working properly then look at the logs and see what kind of failures you're getting so you can see what's going wrong and make the proper changes. Otherwise I wouldn't stare at the logs too much. :)

Sorry I can't post URL and PM.

When I change captcha service from CS to Decapther, gsa can register phpbb forum like this:friendaveDOTcom, but when I show URLs submitted, the URL is the domain, not like this: friendaveDOTcom/profile.php?mode=viewprofile&u=4
I don't know if this is a bug?

Having to change captcha service to Decaptcher in order for CS to work IS a bug, which i am working to get solved (just building a decent sized sample list which consistently shows to problem).

The 'show urls submitted' option will just show the domain until it has been varified. This is not a bug - until the varification process GSA does not know what the actual profile url may be.

For phpBB, you may want to consider reducing the verification times considerably (mine is set to 5 minute intervals and 45 minutes max). This is because sites that take longer are probably manually moderated (and have a ton of other antispam measures) offering you little chance of a link.
On the flip side, if GSA waits 5 days for an email the never comes (many phpbb sites dont need email verification, but some do) before checking for your link on the latest registered members page, there is a good chance new registrations may have bumped you off this page, leading to a failure when your link does in fact exist.
