I'm using a second hand laptop, it's about 2 years old and it was used by a good few other people before given to me (within the family) what i'm concerned about is i know in the past it has had a few viruses on it and although most were simply removed, at this point in time i don't know if there are any other viruses still present, it seems okay. I have installed Avast anti virus free, and Comando firewall free, but what i was considering before opening my e-commerce store (ready to go live) and doing all the surrounding and related things online was to just buy a new laptop and then install new anti-virus software.

So basically what i'm asking is do you need to get a new laptop before doing all this secure activity online or is it just as simple as getting premium anti-virus and firewall on the existing laptop? Thanks for any advice.

format that laptop and reinstall the windows. but remember to backup your data first

i will also prefer to format laptop and reinstall window. then install gud antivirus on the laptop

Good ideas there

Any sane person would reinstall the system if suspicious of malware (especially the fudware).

Backup, format, install Nod32 (or go with no AV at all, only computer unfriendly people use AV anyway these days methinks)

Avast is one of the ones that sucks your CPU performance like a virus itself. I always uninstall this on used computers...

once a system is compromised, the only way to be 100% sure that theremis nothing runing in the background is a fresh install. you could use this as a chance to try win8.
