Thinking of starting a site 500err.com -- I can't afford to compete on $5 services...but for $500 I can!

Who's with me!

that wouldn't surprise me. I've had 0 sales on fiverr.com in 3 months, so when I get my 1 sale I want to make it count.

Be realistic. Shoot for a subscriptions site, now that would be unique.

subscriptions service is good but bad side is very annoying dealing with customer services for both admin and providers

what is the point. freelancer and odesk are already filling the bigger niche.

Let me understand. You intend to have a site where the value of the service will be $500?? Really?

Have you done a huge research if this have some possibility of success?? I'm not saying that it can't, I'm just asking. Because other sites like Freelancer, 0desk, and Elance are dealing with values around this one, so, what can you offer to make your site very attractive?

You have to understand that the economy in the world is not strong yet and that's why that the Fiverr appeared, it saw a big niche to be exploited.

Before you start this site you better make a big research to assess the real possibilities.

You could compete with fiverr but only if you choose a niche and stick with it.

Find something that would be in demand but not yet (or underrepresented) on fiverr: lets say only stuff related to twitter, facebook, pinterest or all three. Or get out of IM niche for all! Go offline! IDK

Also Classifieds sites or CPA related services.

I have a website payme7.com and also thinking about same stuff! :)

what do you guys mean by odesk, freelancer and elance are filling the hole?

He meant that there are already sites dominating that game, it's going to be hard to compete with them if you don't offer something in demand they don't.

Someone saw this thread and registered the domain already. They offered me to split commissions 50-50. But I don't think it's going to work. They were just going to use the fiverr clone script. But $500 consulting fee would require a more polished and professional look.

Doesn't seem like too great of an idea to me. You could probably get more use out of 100 fiverr gigs than one $500 gig.

I guess the guy who bought the URL is a very shrewd dude!

Maybe he is going to sell a raft of micro jobs from say 10 bucks to $500USD - Smart thinking.

Please tell me it's a joke.

Fiverr worked so well because it was an original idea. You saying this remember me of a guy from BHW who started something like http://www.milliondollarhomepage.com/ and expected to make money.

Be real: when it comes to stuff like this, you need new ideas.

I was totally joking when I made the thread. But someone thought it was a good idea and ran with it.
