Should i go to International school?

Hey

I am 16 years old atm and i found that international school that is in Thailand. 1 Terms costs $5k and in 1 year there is 3 terms. I have like $5k and my parents could help me out too a bit. When i told my friends about maybe going they were just like, yeah sure, (like thinking that i probably will not go, like joking). I am making $2K a month at IM, so that could help me pay for my school also ( This month gonna be $2k and last month $1.3K, thats why i have only $5k).

If you were me, what would you do? (since my friends dont give me any reasonable response, my parents loved the idea).

School will not generate you income, why go there ? i quited mine. waste of time

Hi Chopter,
I used to go to an International school in France, and the fees were about the same.

First off is it teaching IB? It's a bloody hard course but it really teaches you many things about life, if not is the programme they teach recognised by universities internationally (or at least where you want to go to univeristy, if you do of course )

Secondly, visit the school to get a feeling of the atmosphere - it may be not at all friendly, or may not seem like it's worth your hard earned money.

At the moment we do like nothing relating to studying here because teachers dont teach very well. All we do is study at home for tests and get very good grades but in a week we do not remember 90%. I think its wasting times.

Find out what AP or GCE courses you need to take to get accepted into the university you want to go to. Most colleges either accept GCE A levels,AP credits or IB. It is not worth $15,000 a year if you can still get in,by taking either the GCE or AP courses.

You can spend the $15,000 on a good college instead,where it will do more for you. People care more about where you got your highest level of education that you achieved then where you got the lower ones.

Where are you living right now? Are you in Europe or America ?
I will give you an advice :
1) If you are living in Europe, NA, Australia or Japan, China or Russia it's find to stay there where you are, because school are really good at those countries, you will not get better job if you attend that international school, employers will always rather employ somebody who finished school in their own country in stead of somebody who finished school somewhere else. So it is pointless, maybe if you are going to attend some medicine school and if you show up as a really good student, but that's less possible ;).
2) If you are living in some shitty country and you are planing to go in some better country to work once you finish your school then go ahead to that international school, but if you are planing to come back to your homeland, again, you will end up on bureau waiting for someone to offer you a job.

International schools are not that special as everyone thinks, you will just study 100 x more, won't have a single moment of free time and you will waste your best years in Thailand ( a country where you will not be able to hookup with girls, the country where you have almost no night clubs and so on ).

I been in public school and a private intentional school..... the latter was about 4 years ahead in terms of curriculum.

If education is important to you then go for it. :) It could take you places you might otherwise not have reached.... but who knows.
 
I came to Canada to study , ended up having multiple businesses will be getting married in 5 weeks lol while going to Univ .....
It is a hell of experience , go for it or you will regret it for the rest of your life .... at least later on you won't ask yourself the famous ''What if'' question

Are you crazy saying that Thailand has no opportunities for hooking up with girls and no night clubs? Have you EVER been there?

Trust me its probably the TOP Party Destination(Maybe except Ibiza but too many junkies there).... And there are MORE than enough girls there :)

I disagree. A good education is always important.
And of course it can generate you an income. Depends on what school you attend and for what you're using the stuff you learned.

You also never know what the future brings. IM income is an unstable income. Just because you earn good money today, doesn't mean you always will. So better have something up one's sleeve.
 
Not many organization will value your foreign degree as much as a domestic one. Seen foreign PH.Ds work in call centres at minimum wage.

Do what you gotta do, but be aware of what you're letting go of.
