Hello,
I have registered a site about 2 weeks ago and just put up wordpress and some images as well as embedded youtube videos, my site ranked for main keyword (a small niche) in page 2 for about those 2 weeks. I was making unique articles in the meantime so didn't update it at all. now i check for my ranking for main keyword and my site isnt there any longer. not even in page 3,4 etc...
is this bad or easily reversible since my site is new and i am going to put new content in it?

Add the article/s that you were working on and let it dance for a bit. The dance could take up to a month to stabilize.

Be sure to keep an eye on how it's dancing. I like to change the google browser settings to show 100 per page. Then I can press control+F and find the site I'm looking for. You can find your site for a keyword super easy this way. Then I write it down, or you can of course use other methods like google notice and what not. Just a thought. Keep the thread moving with current events, so people can help if you need. :)

I looked for my site in the first 20 pages but is not there, could it be removed from the search completely? its an EMD

I've had this with new sites as well. Actually, 1 of my sites just returned to the 3rd page for a very competitive keyword. Keep adding content and proper off page. It just takes time.

ah! it looks like its back on the second page. I haven't done any off site work so far. I want it to be as white hat as possible, where should I start?

I wouldn't worry about it to much mate. As the others have said it could take a while to stabelize. I've been building a site for my mates buisness. I'm targeting quite a wide variety of KW relating to his business. For the last 2 weeks the site has been doing the tango all over the place, yesterday it was ranking 4th place on #1 of google for it's main keyword and 3rd place on #2 for it's seconday main kw and today it's gone. No doubt it will be back again tomorrow. Check up on it's placement a few times a day and you will notice the changes.

hmm, i ever felt the same with you .
people said it's google dance, did you do too much seo within 2 weeks?
my advice : add natural and high quality backlink and keep posting :)
good luck

The only SEO I have done is onsite. Linked all the pages together within the content useing KW as the link, made sure all my alt tags and <h1> tags contained the keywords. Added new content once every 2 days. Ensured I had a xml site map and also made sure my robots.txt was set correctly. That's about it!

I think I submitted the homepage to 2-3 directories for automotive businesses! That's as far as I've gone with offsite. Gonna be doing more offsite over the next couple of weeks.

As I mentioned in my previous post checked today and I'm back on #1 for main KW and now at the top of #2 for secondary word.

Edit: Forgot to mention onsite. The content is all unique with a kw density of between 1.45%-3.00%

I think its the google dance. Did you do any backlinking to the site? How good was your content? Was it unique and interesting? If you think everything is right, then use serpfox to track your website. Its free for 10 keywords and updates daily. That should give you a better result imo. Wait for 2 weeks before thinking your site is been hit. Its normal for new site to dance for a week or 3.

i think it was just a dance, my website is now on bottom of page 1 for main keyword (eMD) so all good, need to send it all the way to first position if I want any visitors.
no backlinks done so far

It has happened because all search engines at first days of living of your site give you advantage in SERP and after about 1-2 mounths they drop down your site in SERP. So you must increase PR of your site during this 1-2 mounths to prevent your site from dropping down in SERP.

The reason why your website disappeared could be the loss of the newbie bonus.
Every website, which gets indexed for the first time, gets a huge newbie bonus, causing a higher rank for the relevant keyword.
After a period Google takes this bonus away and your rank drops.

That's no big deal, just keep up SEOing. :sombrero:

Your site is new with no real back link, Google just treated you like the new guest in the house and have placed you in the right place after getting familiar with them..

It's time to get to work that is what it simply means.

There is nothing to worry about this problem.
You have to be patient and try to do what you can do to promote your site and your content.
