The thing is, is that Sony and Microsoft both lose money on each console they sell. I heard awhile back it was around $100 US each. They make the money back on games, accessories, online, etc.

So it's going to be tough to find any kind of a discount. I have a few wholesalers here in the US and you don't save but $50 or so on a console.

there's no way that's true.. i heard for a while ps3's were losing money but only because they were so freakin expensive when they came out, and they sunk too much in making them. microsoft doesn't lose money on it's consoles though, they're not that dumb.. and game sales wouldn't make up that much of a dent. it's not like microsoft makes 100% off of its games, those cost a shit ton to develop and market, too, plus they don't independently make them, other programming companies do for the most part. you might sell 10 times as many games for 50 bucks or whatever but they're not making 50 bucks off of it...

Why don't you just go to a liquidation site like:
www.liquidation.com

Just search for PS3's and look for "Salvage" PS3's...Their cheap, probably broken. But I bet you the processors on those PS3's are still usable.

I don't think the ps3 processor will work on a different machine. You will have to buy a dev kit(expensive).
