How to start targeting a new keyword

Hy.

I have an website:

PR2
About 1 year old
Around 8000 pages
It is an offline business website.

The idea is that my main kw for now is "translation" and my website is optimize for this kw but now I would like to go for "translate" too. How you suggest to do that.

Here is what I'm thinking:

Solution 1: Just add the new kw in the meta tags and go with an aggressive and long term backlink building campaign with "translate" as anchor

Solution 2: Add some new pages optimize (meta + content) for this kw (translate)

Solution 3: Rethinking the entire website and add new content on all the pages + meta for this kw (translate)

Solution 4: Make a sub-domain build and blog that it optimize for this kw only and insert links in this blog to the main website.

Or a combination of those above.

So what do you thing is the best solution with the fastest result. Or if you have a new solution fell free to share it.

None of your "solutions" is a complete solution. You must go for a combination of all of them.

1: add your new keyword in your seo mix - keyword presence/density on pages, backlinks anchor etc. Be careful with anchors though, remember that your need anchor diversity. An aggressive backlinking campaign with the same anchor may hurt your overall ranking. (also note that meta-tags are used by some engines, but Google is not one of them)

2+3: adding new fresh content is always good for SEO. If rethinking the whole website is necessary to make the additional content look more natural (instead of just new pages you "patched" over it for the sake of adding new content) then go ahead.
In case you move some pages while rethinking the whole website, don't forget to 301 redirect the old URLs.

4: blogging is also a great way to add new content to your site and target new keywords. But forget about the subdomain. Search engines will see the subdomain as a different site, so your main site won't benefit from it.
But you can start a blog directly on your site, or in a subdirectory (i.e. yoursite.com/blog)

I know about the sub domain, I was just looking to benefit from the links pointing to my first website that I will create on the new blog not the sub-domain directly.

It seems more obvious to me that there is no short path . You are right and I was thinking about this, the rethinking of the entire website will be the correct solution but I was trying to find a short path.

I would probably just add a new page. However you're targetting translation instead of translate they are really similar. You can always just try working it into your existing ranking page.

All are good solution, anchor text always helpful for Fast ranking. If you add new page with high quality content that?s really good because content always helpful for quick ranking . Solution 4 also good because if you added blog then it optimize for keyword that?s good But finally I will suggest you only one point add more quality content because all above solution or other solution content is important.

Combination of those above. But making new pages and even sub domain is a good idea. Go for both practices if you can

So... after looking at the competition and since I do not have the time to implement all the solution above all at once, for now here is what I decide:

As mentioned since the two kw are not so different and since the competitors website are not optimize for the new kw that I target I decide to make one step at the time and see how things work.

So:

Step 1. I will modify the meta and the actual content and start to introduce the new kw. I will do that without making big changes and without transforming the new kw in the primary.

Step 2. I will build a few new pages with the new kw as main kw, set them in a new and different sitemap and submit it to webmaster tools.

Step 3. I will start an aggressive link building campaign with a diversity of anchors txt but all will contain the new kw. Aggressive is way of saying since those days are gone

And after that I will go and implement the other solution.
