I think there are some good WSOs it's just that for every really good one there are about 100 that are absolutely terrible.
Another thing is that while you can sell a lot through a WSO, people expect everything to be super cheap.
You could publish the exact formula Google uses for their search rankings along with 50 case studies showing how to implement it and succeed 100% of the time and if you charge $50 or more, most of the posts on your WSO thread will be people complaining that it is too expensive!
Perhaps you could try selling a limited version of your ebook, something like showing one specific technique (one of your best "secrets") with a case study or two for like $7 -$17 and then upsell to the full version from within the report.
That way you don't get your whole strategy saturated, you appease the "low cost" gods of the WSO forum, people that steal and pass around your WSO are actually helping you market the full version, and weed out some of the tire kickers since those buying your full report via WSO would be people that have already spent money with you.
Plus you make a little money from selling the Lite version on top of that.
I've seen this kind of appraoch with some software vendors where a "cracked" version is leaked on all the forums but it is actually an earlier version of the software and not the newest version. People use the cracked version, see that there is an updated version with new features, can't find a cracked version of the newsest version so go and buy it. There is actually some article about this I read somewhere from someone that was doing this to market his software with a lot of success.
