Not it's upto you how you do it. STOP tying to find a different answer for Penguin. It's ANCHOR DIVERSITY. "Winners don't do different things, they do things differently". Don't just build spammy blog comments to dilute your anchors. Employ the same emphasis on these generic anchors as you have done with main keywords few months back. I didn't keep a track of time. I was also working on a different site. Both of these sites came back within the same time frame. usually it should be less than a month if you do everything right.

Good case study, ilike how detailed it is with proof. In mine own findings, I also have noticed a lot of on page factors in addition to anchor text diversity. Things like site wide opt in forms, lead gen boxes, large images and all he content towards the bottom of the site.

This is not the case. I have a site ranking in positions 1, 2 and 3 on the first page of the serps, for its primary keyphrase, with pure shit for backlinks. And today it popped up in #6 for a one word search term. Anchor text diversity is how it got there and mostly from low quality/irrelevant backlinks (99% of this site's backlinks are garbage).

The case study you see, the links were diluted mostly with wikis and blogs. Matt Cuts jokes around. I don't think I got relevant links at all. It's just that you will be penalized if you post on networks that are flagged. There are still a lot of underground private blog networks running.. !! Even a private network of 50 blogs can be powerful enough to get your site ranked. Just don't go looking around for them in public.

I still don't understand how this drop was a result of Penguin. It looks like the drop happened on the 21st. Penguin was released April 24th and an update was made on May 25th. Am I missing something here? You were not affected by Penguin.

most of your backlinks are nofollow, so I assume you were using a lot of blog comments with some bookmarking backlinks.

i don't agree with your point "don't use automated backlinks", in fact I know sb blast works well even after penguin in case you know how to use it correctly.

yeah, put your backlink on HIGH PR pages works like a charm
