Hi,

ive heard mention in some threads that when AC offers to pay you sometimes they offer a residual payment based on the performance of the article.

Is this true?? If so what are typical rates?

Id much rather right content for residual value that for a once off payment.

You get residuals on everything, even if you get upfront payments as well. It is $1.50 per thousand views, it can reach $2.00 per thousand views if you get a ton of them. it is on a sliding scale, look at performance payments in AC faq.

So wait.....im assuming it works by them selling your article to some site developer.....then he drives traffic to the site and you get paid based on how many impressions that article gets?

so the residuals are essentially out of your hand?

it's weird that no one mentions the residuals in the AC threads...i mean would you rather get 3 bucks per article up front...or 1.5 per 1000 impressions ongoing.

Ain't the question, you get both. ;) A lot of people here aren't US citizens, and use disposable accounts, which is probably why they aren't worried about residual income.

Do you think you could drive traffic (per thousand) every month to that particular article ?

You get both, AC pays you from views on AC's site. It has nothing to do with some site developer. They encourage you to bring in traffic because you know in 1,000 unique visitors they're getting at least $3 in adsense clicks, thats how they make their money to begin with.

if it's paid traffic you can drive it to any link you want. that's what your paying for.

i'm new to all this, and i've tried, but there's two things to consider:
1. your traffic will probably cost too much for it to matter
2. if you use cheap traffic the provider probably won't send hits to AC because of some frames issue or you won't get all that you pay for.

if you want "performance payments" try writing some really good SEO optimized content on an adsense site. you'll probably do better. AC isn't the way to make money by page views. i've been able to turn some coin doing that method with triond though.

Consider how much money you get to pay for paid traffic and how much you earn from AC (Performance).

If that's the case, then I'll probably use that article for other purposes which I can earn more than AC gives.

I myself tried AC few times and i have one published article and last month i had 4 people looked at it and i made .01 so if i can scale it up then probably could make more money.
