Based on my personal experience, I can say that the key to passing through these kinds of updates is really your links + content.
For example, take a site that has 100% do-follow links, all targetted anchor text, that site will probably get hit by this refresh because the link profile looks unnatural.
But if that webmaster made the same number of no-follow and added generic anchor texts and naked url links from sites such as Yahoo! Answers, Facebook, Twitter, Wikipedia, he would probably pass.
The reason why he would pass is because his link profile would look very natural, 50% targetted anchor, 50% generic, naked url's, mixture of do-follow and no-follow.
Most of my clients that I do Yahoo! Answers links for always end up benefitting from these types of updates because they focus on both types of linking. I highly recommend everyone to focus more on naked url links, no-follow links, and generic anchors because you have to dillute your link profile from the paid links that most of us on BHW are adding to our sites.
If anyone has any more questions, feel free to hit me up and check out my threads. I wish all of you the best through this refresh!
