From my understanding, the G Algo was updated last night and after reading an article on Forbes about the "end of SEO", I was wondering if anyone has felt the effects yet?!

My websites actually increased in rankings, on my end.

Care to link that Forbes article?

The "end of SEO" my ass. Forbes is throwing dirt at Google ever since they deindexed them for selling links. So anything Forbes says about google is just hate posting.

I am waiting for my report to kick out Friday morning. I find that more than once a week checking makes me anxious and OCD like. So far my main project and clients have been on an upward trend. I will just concentrate on building my New client packages to reflect the recent changes in the SEO landscape.

I saw mostly neutral effects. I think this was mainly focused at increasing the quality of results for long tail keywords, not banning black-hat sites. It seemed like a big update, but It wasn't even as big as the "bigfoot" update that SEOmoz blogged about a few weeks back. Google didn't even acknowledge that one.

No effects here, 2 of my websites went up a couple spots. One is dancing because I am doing heavy link building. Besides that, I have not seen any drastic changes at all.

Mine have dropped a position or two on the first page.. Was holding 2,3 and 4 spots for quite a number of my target kw. Some of those are now down to 5,6 and 10....
Strange as this is the first update to have any effect.

Plan on doinga lot of work on the 'social signals' in the next week or two see what it does.

:musicus:

I smell propaganda.

My sites all stayed near the same rank.

SEO has died 1000 times this year alone, didn't you know?

Almost all my sites increased in rankings since last night.

All of my sites are equally as raped as they were from the original penguin update :(. I'm never going to climb out of this hole. No changes here.

SEO will never never die. There will always be a "way" of playing the search engine algo system (and there has to be a system in place). The playing field do change however....

The thing thats really fucking annoying and business destoring is constant algo changes! Especially the changes of 2011/2012. Google does not really give a flying F too us IM'ers/webmasters/web creators etc. They seem to only favour big brands, big companies. I wonder if they get money from these big compaines to appear at the top or near the top of the natural serp results?? Just saying.

Maybe best not to make your income search engine reliant. my 2cents

Well, Knock on wood lol.... but every time they change they're Algo, my site goes up... finally in first position with my Main keyword, and second for my secondary KW's :D

That's funny. If SEO is dead, so is Google's entire billion dollar business model. That's how they make all their money right now (or at least 90% of it), so they won't let it die.

SEO will never die, just like other people mentioned above. I know Forbes likes to think social networking is so popular that it will even beat search engines, but that's not going to happen. And definitely not in 2 freaking years!

I do not see any kind of bad result of that kind of bad news.
I heard that google changed their algorithm but i did not heard that seo has gone dead.
It's really a bullshit.

SEO is DEFINITELY not dead.

Last nights update didn't effect me at all, in fact most my websites went flying up.

Some up, some down. Page one ranks stable though.
