amazing post shylesson you've helped me no end getting started with autoblogs but the only thing im unsure of so far is hosting.

sorry if you've posted it before but what hosting provider are you using and how do you work it regarding IPs with so many blogs?

Great guide! I think it will be good to add Auto Social Poster and Ping Crawl plugins too.. I don`t know does Ping Crawl works but it functions sounds good.

I did say 99% done.... =D

Now I make it 99.3% Just for info the other 0.7% are in researching

Yeh-- You aren't really saving yourself a step by doing that as you are going to want to change the theme up [but as I said to keep a folder with 'completed themes' that you will eventually fill up with all your themes completed, and then it's even easier]. All that will be configured for you if you do it that way would be the UAW plugin and it would be configured with the information from w/e site it is that you d/led and reuped the files from. So you still have to go there [and now more than before because it will be set as 'activated' and the divs will have the other site's div ids on it, the other site's name as the site name, and sometimes it will check the uncategorized box which we don't want as it will post random information not related to your site. I've tried it that way so I am speaking from experience on that too.

I did forget one thing to add but as I wrote this reply...I forgot what it was. :/ Eh...if I remember I'll post it--just another one of those things that you may run across and find as common sense and do anyhow, but want everyone to know to remember to do....but it has really slipped out of my mind....I'll report back if I remember it lol.


eta: I always configure my permalinks, MBP Ping Optimizer, categories, and WP VideoTube/Answers before posting any content to assure that the permalinks are right, the blog is not excessively pinging right away, you have categories to post to, and you have the proper templates setup so nothing will go wrong with posting.

I DO TWITTER VERY LAST because I don't want the immediate influx of posts to be posted to twitter right away. I want it to be a natural progression as once the autoblog is setup, it will be.

That was not what I was thinking of...but it did come to my mind too so thought I'd share it too.

Oh yes mate, you are so right. I forgot that step.

Go to your index.php template and find the line that says:

the_content

replace with:

the_excerpt

That should do it. Let me know~

eta@ your cc question--it gives you the option to post to a specific time period. It will automatically choose a date/time based on your time period. So if you have it set for 01/04/2009-12/28/2009 and only have it set to post 100 posts, it will disperse them over the 360ish days so set the time period to lower so you have a lower period to cover [100 posts over 120 days vs 360 days is going to show up more readily]. If ya know what I mean...

eta@gaz: hostgator mostly and siteground on a few. i don't interlink blogs on the same ip so i make sure to only have one niche per ip. i now keep it to 10 domains per to spread the processes.

I would suggest adding an .htaccess instead of robots.txt, at least for the plugins folder cause there are bots that ignore the robots.txt.

So if you don't want google or other search engine to find out you're using Uniquefier..

Create .htaccess file with syntax as follow:

< Directory /wp-content/plugins/>
Order deny,allow
Deny from all
</Directory>

For multiple folders just add another Directory tags.

This will BLOCK them!
