I am dying to get my blog onto mainland China and start getting payments for my ebooks. I am already doing well with my blog in the U.S. but want to go global.

Can someone help me? I don't even know how to get started and there is very little info out there on the subject.

Do I have to put my site onto a Chinese server/hosting company?
Do I have to use Baidu?
How can I get payment for my ebooks? Alipay?
Do I have to do my site in Mandarin characters or Pinyin?

Any help/tips/advice would be much appreciated. I'm just not having any luck with this and want to get started asap.

the Chinese market is very different from our so called Western Market. I suggest you to put your efforts into something else. This will be a waste of time. Anyway good luck!

Well, I'm okay with that I guess. But can you give me a couple of reasons why I should abandon ship?

You want to sell your ebooks on China? I can give you some advice.
You DO NOT NEED put your site onto a Chinese server. Lot's of Chinese' webmaster put their site onto US‘ server.
BaiDU is a Very absurd search engine. Not as the google 1/100.
You can get your payment with alipay.
If your ebooks Content are for Chinese, you must do your site in Mandarin characters, not pinyin.
By the way, awareness of copyright in China is very weak, Chinese people usually do not buy e-books, and even if the purchase will be free to share.

I am a Chinese, the above is my sincere advice. Please forgive my poor English.

Just pay a local a few hundred bucks monthly to handle this for you. source using local craigslist or similar

Baidu is the popular SE in China Right?
I don't know about others but Baidu can really help.

What is your blog an ebooks about ?? I know some people in the UK selling into China but they are Chinese or first generation Chinese and they are selling branded clothing etc....I think Mandarin is a must

You're going to need to re-create your content in Mandarin, which can mean paying for translation if you haven't already done it.

Once it's in Mandarin, set up a few accounts on the big social networks in China and start promoting exactly as you would here. Send a few eBooks around to people, ask for reviews, get a *.cn blog and spread the word around, etc.

Interesting thread. Why would you want to sell ebooks to the Chinese market anyway? Are they a big market of your niche next to the US market you are currently marketing to?

I've researched the Chinese market myself, as I am fluent in Chinese.

The conclusion: It's a waste of time and effort. Focus on the US!

According to google if you set region as China then you will rank in china. Ip and local domain effect will minimize

Whats your niche ? ... You might want to look at Japan before China.... Japan's e-book market 'to grow 2.7-fold by 2016

NEEEEHOOWWWW

I bet the Chinese will do a copied version of your blog! Will be cheaper too!

You should know that Chinese people are not using Google but Baidu and the SEO strategy is different.

It's a waste of time.Chinese won't buy any ebooks online . Choose another area if u want to sell your ebooks.
