How much are facebook ads in general? Do you do CPC or CPM?

I don't have extensive knowledge in Facebook advertising but when I tried it a few years back to promote a page, I used cpc. Most of the people on facebook doesn't bother with the ads. Unless you're promoting an app or a fan page, you'll be better off using adwords.

I'm paying about 70-90 cents a click. I'm still just testing the waters with it though. I have found that well targeted ads are getting me visitors though, too early to say how they convert.

why so god damn high? you better be getting some high conversions with such an enormous CPC.


To OP:

I wouldn't recommend Facebook ads since no one cares for ads on the site, there's a reason GM pulled there ads from facebook recently.

I sell travel - so a customer is worth a minimum of a couple of hundred $$$ and sometimes up to a grand or so.

I tested out a FB campaign for my real estate company's website and after using a $50 credit and spending another $75~ I decided it wasn't worth it. After an analysis, I was paying somewhere in the range for 80 cents per like. Not worth the money for me.... Maybe I was doing it wrong... Looking at taking another spin in a few months.

I manage Facebook ads for several clients and I pay between 0.18 and 0.40 per like. The art is to create good ads that get a high CTR, the higher your CTR is the cheaper your clicks get. if you pay more than 0.40 try use different demographics, different ad text and different image. In my experience using many different and highly targeted ads works best for me. Also don't use Facebook ads to get traffic to your site directly, it works better if you first try to Like your page, get them to interact on your page and then once in a while post your offer on your page to get people to your main (money) site.

facebook ads are useless, ive been trying to make them work for many many months now, and all i can get are bots that are programmed to click ads and like pages to appear natural, literally no real people at all!! around 1 in 10 likes i get is a real person. here's a BBC article all about this problem - bbc.co.uk/news/technology-18813237

i guess it can work if you can afford and can compensate for a 1/10 bot ratio
but even huge companies have decided its not worth it like GM
im very close to throwing in the towel, but i cant for the life of me avoid bot likes

i should have been more specific, i was only talking about the page likes i was getting from my ads
i have not even attempted to offer more and convert to specific actions or other pages, so far ive been after 100% page likes, and only so far measured the quantity and quality of those likes

Facebook is a social platform, if any product firm or travel agency or any business related people want to purchase facebook ads, i do not think that will work good for you. But if you have any social fan pages, or discussion fan pages or community fan pages, then facebook ads will work very good for you.

When you chose facebook ads, go for CPC, in that way you will get good click. and always go for high value initially, then after 2 days, check facebook ads cpc rate, and then lower cpc price to that, then after 2 days, check facebook cpc rate, then lower facebook ads cpc rate to that, in that way in a very low price you can get real facebook fans.

You can see that google is using adsense so that is the best way to go.!
