Linking From a Penguin-Affected Site

Hey everyone,

I want to get your advice on something.

I have a PR4 site (built over 3 years, 100% unique content) which lost 1/3 of its traffic after penguin. This must have been after a directory blast I had done, since most of the links were deindexed. My conclusion is that penguin does indeed penalize sites that have a high-ratio of deindexed backlinks. I have tried every single method on the planet to get my traffic back to no avail.

Because I own the .NET of the site, I plan to make a completely new site in the same niche but with a new wordpress theme and outsource someone to re-write every blogpost with 100% uniqueness.

My question is whether it would be safe to place a link to the new site on the old site so that some of the PR juice passes on, or would that also transfer the penalty?

Note: I am not simply doing a 301 redirect. This will be like a brand-new site.

if you want to start a new site its totally a good idea. but linking them to the previous site may create a little problem. but don't even think about 301 redirection. it will damage the new site too.
have you de indexed most of the links? and have you applied for re consideration from Google ? Cause recently people are getting rid of Penguin updates.

When you say - have you de indexed most of the links - are you talking about backlinks going to my site? The only grey hat I ever did with the site was a directories blast, and I noticed that most of them have been deindexed anyway.

Here's what I have done:

applied for reconsideration 3 times already - 1x/ month
de-optimized from 1% to 1/2% keyword density
asked shady link owners to remove my site from theirs - sent about 500 emails to directories of which about half were removed.
Started building new naked links using manual commenting, a few bookmarks, yahoo answers, RSS feed directories.
Setup Google + account/page, Facebook page.
Made Web 2.0 link pyramid with 100% unique content, and blasted it with scrapebox, bookmarks, wikis, etc.
Blasted press releases with Senuke.


...and the #$%^&^ site just stays on page 70 for the main keyword - from 1,500 UV daily pre-penguin to 450UV.

So, I want to build a brand new site with new content, and simply place a link on my old site leading to the new site, so that the PR juice will pass on.

Might sound harsh, but its some real life logic that google is trying to represent in the online world as well.

Have you ever seen an Governor affiliated to a Thug that is still a governor? Same would apply here, linking a new healthy site from a site that was considered as spam/violating Google's TOS makes the new healthy site affiliated to the spammer.

In my case, it became even worst on some sites that shared the same GA and WMT account. Even tho just 2 of the sites (out of 10) were affected from penguin and unnatural link notice (after they deindexed huge amounts of blog networks) even the sites that had nothing unnatural, shady or whatsoever (mhm, well ok, perhaps few web directory submissions, but other links were completely naturally gained) were affected. To my eyes, that was a pure "profiling" of site owner. Later on, I stumbled upon a lovely image (and post) of tweets between the post publisher and matt cutts (potpiegirl.com/2012/03/article-marketing-guest-blogging-and-panda-wth/ - ugh still can't post links LoL) which confirmed my suspect of "webmaster profiling" - so it looks like it is no longer a page 2 page case, or site 2 site...but if the site owner is profiled as a "spoiled webmaster" then whatever he controls gets torched. The doubt of innocence gets twisted into doubt of guilt
