What's your point? Its THEIR website. They have to make money, this is how they are choosing to do so. Are you on crack?

You missed the point bro, and you also typed the wrong forum into the address bar. Google slaps the shit out of affiliates and doesn't allow you to direct link on Adwords and all that, but it doesn't mind putting its own affiliate ads right on the first page. For all the other results (except amazon and the other big guns) it stresses the importance of "quality content" and "user experience" and all that bullshit. But for its own profit, it will break its own holier than thou rules, in fact it will probably do anything for its own profits. I heard they pay hardly anything in tax too. Their motto is "don't be evil" after all

It's just a rant, ok? I don't hate Cutts, i have no opinion about him whatsoever, he's just a small public figure accepted to be pissed on for good salary.
I just don't think it's ok to preach one thing and penalize others for doing the same, this is the point.

So...
They don't let you do that, so they can do it and make a profit. Seems like a good idea to me. I'm pretty sure most of us would do the same.

I didn't miss the point. The point is who cares? They need to be profitable. Its their company, they make the rules.
It is laughable how many people on here complain about matt cutts, or say "oh well Google gets to make money, on commissions, WA WA WA WA." Or, I got slapped by penguin, this is all Google's fault, not mine!
Complaining about it wont get you very far...
I doubt they came here to complain in hopes someone at Google will read it and magically have a change of heart. It is pretty frustrating at times to see what Google has become after all these years. It was one of the original tech "do no evil" companies and now has morphed into a disgusting, ugly mess.

Dude, why are you so tense? I'm not trying to start a revolution here. I'm "complaining" same as i do against anything that's not right and obvious things like this suck. They're running pure mass control game, and guys like you are making it easier for them. Just accepting things as they are is what made the world so sick.

The OP is spot on. There's nothing wrong with Google making a dollar as a business just like everybody else. It IS hypocritical of it to be doing so while asserting all the live long day that its purpose is to provide relevant content or a 'quality user experience,' and hammer, de-rank or ban any site that impairs that experience with ads---while running their own affiliate ads up top the page like any other 'spam blog.' Google is busted, for the umpteenth time.

I think it is good results too, which is totally weird post penguin because a lot of the results have been absolute shit.
